I'll have to check out the API/SF ratings and compare. We only have 137 miles on the Camaro, so it'll be awhile before it's oil change time anyway.

How's everybody?
Funny thing is the Royal Purple plant is just 5 miles from my house... I considered switching to that, it was being sold at the local walmart.... When I was in my youth I worked a a Mobil gas station changing oil and doing state car inspections. One day a car came in for a oil change, it was to me a very old car you know 10 yrs. or better. (I've got socks that old now LOL) anyway I can still remember how impressed at how well his car ran. I asked him what oil he wanted and it was Mobil1. He told me that he had owned the car since new and had always used Mobil 1.
From that day on I have used Mobil1. I don't know if it is the best or not but it has served me well over the years and I have never had a internal engine failure while using Mobil1. and It does help that it is the recommended synth. by GM.

No process, just drain the old oil and put in the new...... Holy CRAP the filter cartridge was $11.99 !!!!!!
You would think with less material to build the filter it would be cheaper right?

Genuine GM!

Parts are getting absolutely ridiculous! I just bought a fuel shut-off solenoid for one of the Cummins on my boat (clip broke-not serviced separately!) and it was $350! 12 bucks for an oil filter sounds crazy too, but after spending almost 30 years working for GM, I've seen waaay too many failures caused by aftermarket parts, so I'm very particular about what goes on my cars. (and boats) I've found that saving a few bucks on a part sometimes just isn't worth it, so I'm the guy that will spend the extra money...and gripe about the cost!

We got into the mid-40's yesterday and windy...it's 34 now and I expect today will be a repeat of yesterday. I'd take the Camaro out for a drive except the roads still have tons of rock/gravel on them and I don't want to beat up the rocker panels. Still waiting on my Hurst shifter; if it doesn't ship this week, I'm going to 'fire' my retailer and find another. (Too bad, because they had good prices....just crappy service!)

The cost was about $35 in all.... Yea I'm old I used to be able to do it for less than $10 with Mobil1

I feel the very same way about cheap aftermarket parts, and most are cheap...

Lucky...see I don't have time to change my own oil and nor do I have the equipment to do it myself...so I'm stuck with taking it to the dealer...And synthetic should last atleast 5-7 thousand miles between changes right? So did u notice any big difference after the oil change and how the car performes?
