2013 ZL1 convertible (taking orders yet)

My dealer tells me the new zl1 vert is not available to order yet .
What is the story?
I think is trying to push me in the direction of the coupe
not sure why.

The ZL-1 vert allocations are not out yet, well I know they are not out at the dealership I bought my vert from. Should be any time now !

I ordered mine on April 19th. Order # QHMCTJ. I believe GM is pulling the orders around May 10th but you have been able to place the order at the dealers April 19th.

Next Thursday or Friday my dealer said come in and we will put together a order .I assumed that was either coupe or vert. I was undecided which I wanted until now.
Do you think He will take deposit for a car he cant put a order in for ,We agreed on MSRP I hope he does not change his mind and want more, I wont pay a dime over MSRP

He has a black 2012 ZL1 on the floor and wants 5 over ,its been sitting there for a week and 1/2(I sat in it and started it SWEEEEET sound)

I concur. Just got back from my Chevy dealer - was there at 0930 this a.m., no ordering information on any 2013 MYs.

Koons Chevy at Tysons Corner has a Black ZL1 in transit since April 20th. Unspoken for, thus far.

Sounds like there are some dealers out there who don't know what they are doing.

Yes - orders can be taken for zl1 verts and entered into the system. As others started, the pricing and allocations are still unknown though.

I got a call from my dealer a few weeks ago since I was on the list as interested, but declined at this time.

Production News
From an unknown, but reputable source. Note there will be no matte black insert option in 2013.

• Shipment and production of 2012 ZL1 models are underway from Oshawa Assembly - - 2012 production ends in mid-June
• 2012 ZL1 Camaro orders currently on the preliminary tab and not in system WILL NOT be built and if they are a Sold Order MUST BE Re-Ordered as a 2013 Model - - as of now there are NO Plans for price protection
• Dealers with unfulfilled 2012 estimated production guide numbers will receive the first 2013 ZL1 for coupe only orders during the weekly ordering DOSP cycle of May 17 - 22, 2012
• This will cover the first 4 to 6 weeks of production
• All impacted units should be produced by end of July
• 2013 Camaro ZL1 Convertible will start production in early August and will not be available for placement until June Dealer Ordering Cycle Of June 21 - 26, 2012
• New 2013 Camaro ZL1 Estimated Production Guide Number will be provided in Mid-May - - around the week of May 14th
• 2 separate guide numbers will be provided - one for coupe and one for convertible models
• It is based upon the last 12 months of sales through April 2012
• Estimated Guide Number covers production through December 2012
• Be on the lookout for an Administrative Message issued in the middle
• of May for further details
• 2012's standard "black painted" hood insert is being replaced for 2013 by an "Ashen Gray" painted hood insert
• Optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Hood Insert (RPO: B92) remains available
• No Option Price Discount (OPD) for the optional hood insert will be provided for the 2012 model run

Blitz is correct, I sat there with my dealer two weeks ago and watched him enter it. He than phoned me the next day with an order #. I gave him a deposit in the spring so I would be the first one on the list if he does get an allocation.

Several people (including myself) have already ordered ZL1s for 2013

Both the coupes and convertibles are available to order right now, allocations will be released in a week or 2.

This is correct. I am one of the many individuals who has placed an order for a 2013 ZL1 Convertible and has obtained an order number.

I met with Scott Settlemire last night in San Jose and he stated that 2013 Camaro ZL1 allocations will be released within the next two weeks. Dealers will receive two 2013 ZL1 allocation numbers -- one for the 2013 ZL1 Coupe and one for the 2013 ZL1 Convertible.

Just got back from the dealer with some good news.I gave him a deposit we workup a order on work bench(it was not ordered the guy who does that shows up thurs) .I have been promised the 1st allocation for 2013 zl1 vert at MSRP .He does not know any dates but thinks some time late june for a allocation .This Guy is one excited dude!!!


P.S the black zl1 is still sitting on the floor.salesman hints they my let it for 2500 over.

That may be the case for some / many dealers, but Koons (ChevyBuckGMC at Tysons Corner) is a mega dealer in Northern Virginia and they usually receive early / first allocations. According to my salesman, who's worked there for 9 years stated "no specific ordering information in their system for 2013 ZL1 Coupes or convertibles" as of yet. I'm only going on what he told me and from discussing it with him and looking at his ordering program / site.
