L99 Disable AFM

Hi everyone, I recently got a 2015 2ss with the auto. I know that the l99 has the AFM where it shuts off 4 cylinders under casual driving. I was told that having the car in "M", also called Sport, will disable the AFM from kicking in until the car is back in regular Drive. Is this true?

Thank you!

Yea... I saw that too but, wth...I’ll try to be helpful. If it goes south, then I’m out.

I can't imagine why being a newbie deserves disrespectful responses.

Dear newbie: when you put the shifter in the M position, Sport mode is activated. Shifts are more aggressive and happen at higher rpm. AFM is not automatically disabled, but the paddles are enabled.

Now that you have the paddles enabled, one downshift will disable AFM until you return either to Sport or to Drive. You can return to Sport by holding the + paddle down for a couple of seconds (display with change from showing the selected gear "M1-M6" to "S") or return to Drive with the shifter. When you do either of these, AFM resumes.

All this is explained in the Users Manual. Many used cars are sold without one. You can view and download the manual at chevrolet.com.

Your reading comprehension is lacking. It’s not about being “new”.
