Pull a door panel and look. Seriously.

I doubt there is hardly anyone here that's actually been in a first gen, much less done audio work. Especially here in the 5th Gen portion of the forum (there is a 1st gen board > http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=32 ).

In many cases, if the speaker won't fit completely inside the door, you would mount on the outside of the panel using a backspacer to adjust the amount of speaker that will actually fit inside the door.

My first car was a 67 RS Camaro. 6x9 in the package tray and 5 1/4 in the door panels. Magnet size is the only factor. I had 20 oz.

Kick panels speakers are an option too

I wouldn't consider two days "old".

I am loving the fact that there are first gen camaro posters in the audio section!!

kick panel enclosures are pretty common for 1st gens. you can google and find em on ebay and i believe most of them come with speakers. You could contact the seller to see if they are available without if you have a desire for a better speaker. Door panels are also a possibility but you might need to have a custom install on the stock cards to make sure they are mounted securely for accurate bass freq. good luck on your mission and report back. we all would love to see how it all works out.
