Whipple Installed, now seeing artificially low IAT's
I just installed a Whipple complete kit on my 2010 LS3 Camaro... now I see something interesting with the "low" intake air temps: My running/driving logged IAT's run about 15F above ambient.. but now I noticed this:
Over the last few weeks the car's been sitting at various temps for ~20+ hours inside my garage... and the garage temp is within 2 degrees of the coolant temp... and the ambient temp on the radio matches the coolant temp also within a degree or two.. and I see this right before I start the car: Coolant Temp/Ambient Temp-----------IAT Temp 55f-----------------------------------39f (-16f) (41f = 4536 resistance in the cal info) 59f-----------------------------------43f (-16f) 72f-----------------------------------57f (-15f) (59f = 2976 resistance in the cal info) Any idea's? I haven't taken the sensor out to verify with a thermocouple since it's hard to get too.. but i will at some point. Anybody else see this or is something wrong with my setup? |

I added an UltraGauge a few weeks ago and have noticed a similar reading variation :( , starts out 10-15 below air temp.
Just made a quick trip out to the car to verify that its like that before startig. The car has been sitting for 24 hours and the temp of on the radio shows 81 ... the Intake showing 66. Not sure whats going on.

So, it's starting to look like the Whipple IAT sensor simply reads ~15F below actual temp. How's that for marketing! It still runs good, doesnt knock with the reported IAT's near 85F (which might actually be 100F), so Im not too concerned.. but still is an issue since they are shipping kits this way and every single person I read on the Internet with a whipple'd Camaro LS3 says (think) they are running IAT's that are only 15F over ambient. |

Are they still shipping kits using the IAT sensor in the intake tube, or is it in the lower intake tub? It should be in the lower intake tub.

Maybe this is part of the reason everyone says they run so much cooler than the eforce !!

Yep I just got my Whipple, straight from Whipple, the sensor is on the pass side lower rear corner, though this has nothing to do with location and all to do with calibration.
If this is how it's always been, I find it hard to believe that it's gone unnoticed until now. And if it has.. then wow. |

I guess I cant do that, mine is this way: 302 284 266 248 230 212 194 185 176 167 158 149 140 131 122 113 104 95 86 77 68 59 50 41 32 23 14 5 -4 -13 -22 -31 -40 I could just add ~15 degrees to every point here and it would probably correct my cal... but... why is it like this? It shouldn't be. I'd like Whipple to explain. |

He is talking about changing the labels not the values themselves. I just noticed that these are the same values as stock on the 2012 Silverado I am working on.
