it's possible. I dunno, just found it interesting..

could be with the redesign of the steering wheel/column in 2012, the RFID antenna is placed differently and the sender in the key isn't lining up.

Starts with the key not fully open just as it does fully extended.

That could explain the year model variances........but yours and
velocity149 are both 12's. His being a V6 though would'nt the steering wheels be the same ?

but he is also in Canada and I am sure there are some differences in the BCM programming as well as the Canadian version of our NHTSA has different regulations with regards to theft deterrent systems.

so i was messing around with the car, and i found out the follwing:
the car starts with key in any orientation
my tach dosnt work when i start the car with the key half folded
the shifter will ot shift into "M" with the key half folded.
I am scared that the theft deterent system is broken, and just ot fully working. called dealership, and they said that it should not start with the key half folded, as it is a security measure ensuring that nobody can copy the key (dont know how that is possible) but he booked me in for service.
anyways, thanks for bringing this up MR.iNCREDIBLE, s I would have never noticed this if you hadn't.

actually I lied, now that I think about it, it has started in any orientation, but it won't just let me flick it and it starts, i have to hold it. but it usually does not start like that.

Hmm I remember a long time ago (2009?) someone had a blank cut so he could just have the key (not the fob part) so he could take it surfing. I wonder if this is a newer change to the computer.

interesting information..

you are welcome I guess, it was an accidental discovery on my part and I merely thought it was interesting.

I hope my find doesn't result in major work being done to your car....

Please let us know the outcome.
