M6 launch on drag radials
Track trip this last weekend was a disaster...
Car would hook solid and just fall on its face. I am running a 3.42 rearend w a mantic9000 clutch. I even tried revving to 4k rpms still hooked and fell on its face.. Anyone have tips for getting a m6 w a grabby clutch like the mantic outta the hole hard? Was at my wits ends.. Haha I know w some practice ill eventually get better, but man it's frustrating!! Btw it's a ysi car, with 17" 295/45 et street II's at 16psi cold. |

More air in the tires and a higher rpm launch

I ran my Mickey Thompson DR at 17psi and launch about 4200-4300 before I put some more gear in the car.

4500-5000rpm is what Ive understood for successful launches.

Mantic900 here and no problems being grabby, 4,000-4,500rpm and slip it right out of the hole, 700rwhp maggie, slipping it off the line is the key, the clutch will handle it very well.

I'm exited to throw a RXT on my car along with some Stage 4 Axles! Before I was launching at 4k off the 2-Step on 555R's (stock clutch, stock rear-end) best time has been 12.7@117 .. over 4k altitude though

Guess I should watch this thread. In the process of putting on a V3si and a Mantic 9000 with 3.91s and the same tires on my wishlist. I guess the consensus is around 20 psi in the tires and slip out at 4500-5000?

I don't know that I would say the consensus is 20 psi. I ran the other night on some used 18" MT ET Streets at 17 psi. I also use a Raptor shift light to help launch. Leaving at about 4K was the best for the night but I think I'm going to go up to 4200 - 4300 next time. With a decent burn out I never spun nor bogged down.

The best I got for the night was 1.93 60'.
I didn't really get as good of a burn out as I wanted though. I was trying to get a routine going and the first few runs I would goof something up. Anything from not setting the brake pressure good enough, to not getting both tires wet so it would get sideways on the burnout, to not getting the RPMs up high enough. I think once I get a good routine down and find the best way to launch I'll bring both the 60' and ET down.
