"Black Chrome" Trim

Do any of you guys know how to get the "Black Chrome" look of the trim on the SEMA Camaro "BLACK" concept car?

Notice the exhaust tips, the trim around the taillights, and the chrome part of the emblem...

Is it vinyl or paint? Or something else?

paint and clear would be the easiest way. You could also do it with a Black Patina but you would really need to know they type of metal it was since its a chemical reaction.

Also, if it really is chrome, there is something called black chrome plating and it looks great.

Wheels with a light black chrome plating:

These ugly wheels are a blacker chrome plating:

You can get it even darker the this. Only thing with this method is the metal will have to be separated from the plastic because im pretty sure it gets dip in all kids of chemicals to do this.

They're painting plastic. I checked it out when I was at SEMA last year.

Now for a really hard question.....

Anyone know what color code this would be? Maybe the standard black ("GBA"... a.k.a. "8555") with a pearl?

Hey custom shops... we want "Black Chrome"

FYI. a cheap version of this MAY WORK. . . Get the spray tint (smoke) that people use on the side marker and tail lights... It MAY give you the same effect if dont right... I'll be trying this myself.

The SEMA car should be done in about a month. We are going to release photos as we finish parts.

Keep an eye on our SEMA thread the more bumps to the top the more it will remind me to post items..
