Really wasn't a question of safety ... Just save the extra weight by not running them if they are not going to add any safety

You don't have to be an engineer to know the stamped box crash bar is what it is. A chunk of metal that connects the frame rails. It's designed to absorb low energy impacts, if the replacement bar were inferior it would simply damage other parts. Certainly wouldn't make a safety difference to the passenger as all air bag and crumple zones are intact and relate to passenger safety.

My mistake. Took it as a safety concern. Redlineviper explained their usefulness. For 1.5 pounds apiece I think they are worth keeping. They are tubed titanium. Not sure what kind.

AT the speeds and power this car has I wouldn't be messing with the safety equipment. The car has a 5 start safety rating for a reason...

Agreed....but that 13 lbs peice of metal is not a special piece of safety innovation. It's 14 gauge metal rolled in a press in the shape of a rectangle. Impressive to say the least.

Everyone has an opinion I guess. I never tell others what they should and shouldn't do with their cars. I chose also not to wear a seatbelt. Lol. If you think they are powerful now wait till you add 300 rwhp.

Im a Paramedic, seen a lot of vehicle accidents... adults and kids killed and injured.

Since we are talking safety, i personally don't care if you are alone in the vehicle... I think it is responsible to inform anyone that you modified the crash bumpers... let them make an informed decision...

Im also for letting people deciding to wear safety equipment or not... but they should be personally and fiscally liable for their injury because they did not wear recommended safety equipment.

Crash and injured ? no seat belt? you are 100% liable for injuries u sustained. 50% if the accident is not your fault. No questions asked done.

Law Enforcement should not even care if you wear your seat belt unless you are a minor.

Insurance should not be required to pay for someone not using a basic / recommended piece of safety equipment.

Same with fatties and smokers... people know that being obese and smoking are extremely dangerous for you in long term health.

But that is another discussion

Who is to say that these titanium bars aren't just as strong, if not stronger, than the stamped factory pieces? There's a reason why it's heavily used in the aeronautical and space industries. Crap, the Pontiac G8 has aluminum crash bars!
