They are not a waste of money at all... cars need to breath to get maximum performance intake headers/exhaust is probably the most important bolt ons... intakes can add 5-15 HP depending on the intake and also a very important thing is tuning the car to get the best results

They say they have them for V6 & V8.

Check the link again

From Crate Engine Depot description:

Give your Camaro a breath of fresh air and improve your horsepower with GM Performance Parts air box kits. They include an open-element air filter for lower restriction and a great looking, performance style housing for a true tuner appearance. Available for V-6 and V-8 applications.

one more thing... if a intake company claims to gain 18-25 hp they really dont... you wont get more than 15... i have an AIRaid Intake and i love it... its real big and when you get on it you can hear it very well

It amazes me how many statements were about EPA, standards, noise and so on, is the reason GM doesn't do it. But yet FORD has no problem doing it.

There are a couple brands that seem to show positive results but like posted above GM has to worry about more than maximum power.
The biggest restriction in the stock airbox is the stock airfilter. With the right filter a LOT of air flow through the stock box can be gained, although the stock box still has not been able to out flow any cold air intake system we've had on our flow bench with any filter so far. With the right filter it's come just under 50 CFM shy of a popular OTR style intake.

We are going to be conducting testing of a a variety of drop in filters in the stock box as soon as the rest of the ones we have on order show up.

Indeed.. that is me as well.. and I live in the Seattle area.. famous for raining a lot.

the main thing that concerns me about most popular CAI kits is that if you use a "scoop", they usually have the pickup really close to the ground behind the lower grill.

We tend to get quite a bit of standing water at times around here.

The internal combustion engine is nothing more than a GIANT vacuum. No more, no less! The faster you get air in and the faster you get air out, the more power you will make. EVERY stock airbox blows. Look at them. A huge, cumbersome box with a small opening that allows air in, thus suffocating the vehicle and robbing it of power. Try breathing through a coffee stirrer for a couple minutes. When you pass out from a lack of oxygen, I'll make sure and pick you up off the floor. FYI: The GT500 comes with a stock open element air filter.
