Blowout No Spare SMH!

I think I ran over a chunk of metal or something....
I was driving along minding my own business and heard a loud pop. As soon as I went to check the pressure on the display I got a warning (and an email) for no pressure on that tire.
70 miles from home, in the middle of nowhere, with no spare just fix o flat, which wouldn't have fixed that hole...

I had to get towed back.

Tire is unrepairable and they recommended changing both back tires to prevent damage to the differential from tire wear offset.

You could have drove the 70 miles. They are called RUN FLATS for a reason. And don't change both. That explanation they gave you, is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

The tires on the 1LEs are not run flats.

I'm tempted to throw a full size spare in my trunk for long road trips for this reason. I've been lucky to never have to deal with a flat yet, but it can happen any time, anywhere.

1- SS 1LE's don't have run flats.
2- SS 1LE's have an eLSD and once a certain amount of wear is on a tire it is recommended to replace both. This actually is quite common on performance cars.

First mod on my car was to throw a pinch weld jack, lug wrench, and spare (that clears both front / rear calipers) in the back. The 285 front fits in the trunk without issue. The 305 rear does if you take the four 15mm nuts off the trunk latch trim and take a Torx bit (can't remember size) and pull the two nuts holding the foam that holds the air pump out.

Once all that is out (plus the trunk floor cover), the 305 fits in there by putting it down in the well then pulling it up - allowing it to be snaked in there. Yes, the trunklid will then close with either front or rear wheel / tire in there.

If you don't want to go through that, the 305 can be put in a large trash bag and thrown in the RF seat when it is all the way back. Verified that, too. No way to get it in the back seat without removing the front seat first. Not enough room to snake past the seat and the B-pillar.

If you don't want to carry a full sized spare, you can buy or make an adapter like the V2 CTS-V and other guys use along with a spare like off a V2 CTS (V's did not have one). Need a taller spare tire though.

1LE gets extreme summer non-runflat tires, an inflator kit in the trunk, and 3 or 5 years of roadside assistance, depending on what broke.

For sure a more thorough fix-a-flat tool kit and/or a AAA Diamond Elite® card wouldn't hurt.

Also with tire sizes being different from front to rear on the 1LE if you are going to carry a spare it would need to be the rear otherwise if you ran a front on the rear you could potentially destroy the rear diff in a short amount of time due to tire height differences.

Only bad is a rear spare tire setup in the OEM size wont fit on the front of the car. Now, you could go with a narrower tire that still maybe meets the overall tire height and will still fit on the front, but that will take some work as well as the aspect ratio will be lower than the already low 30 that the rear tires comes with.
