So the 5.0's are faster; Then whats with this comparison?

I read an inside line article where they compare an ss to a gt(yes a 5.0) and the Gt has better 0-30 and 0-45 times but the 0-60 is the same, and the camaro ends up finishing the 1/4 0.2 seconds quicker and 3.1 mph faster.

Heres the link 2011 Ford Mustang GT vs. 2010 Chevy Camaro SS Comparison Test

I've seen articles favoring both of them. Which tells me one thing and one thing only.. These cars are closely matched and honestly it's a driver's race.

it just seems the general though around here is the 5.0 is quicker, and the ss doesn't have a chance stock to stock, but maybe its just the threads I've been reading!

It probably depends on if it's the auto or manual, too. I was reading some posts the other day on a Mustang forum, and drivers were saying that the auto 5.0 is a real dog. Of course our auto is nothing too spectacular, but once it's tuned, the real permagrin begins

I've heard the Auto Mustang does quite well in the quarter mile, especially after a tune (which also tunes shift points and torque management).

I plan on tracking my car sometime this summer, so I'll let you know what I can pull stock in a manual transmission. Disclaimer, I'm not the world's best driver.. Anything under 13.2 will make me happy. Ofcourse breaking 12.99 would be great!

These two cars are a legendary matchup, and this specific rivalry will be remembered as such in muscle car history.

I have not owned an SS, my last GM was a 2002 T/A. Full Exhaust, cam and 150 shot of Nitrous. I loved the car, held up great.

This Mustang is very impressive from the factory. I added Motorsport racing springs and a GT500 axle back exhaust - still has factory headers / cats. Im not a great driver by any means and I still ran a 12.83 @ 112.45. I was very impressed with the MPH. I can't wait to get some good races against an SS or two. should be fun.

Actually, most of the track racing fanboys are saying the 5.0 is faster too...

But you are correct that it is a drivers race.

It only sounds like a lot of noise because you're behind the mufflers.....well maybe not you specifically, but you know what I mean
