I find it humorous the amount of threads like this where people boast that they know more about a car than the people selling them. It's like bragging that you can beat up a girl.

Oh btw, the Camaro is awesome, but it isn't a Corvette in no way shape or form. It's like snap-on vs. craftsman tools, they will both do the job but snap-on is superior in every way.

He then shut up and I could tell he didn't know his specs and was not happy with me and walked away. Just had to share this with you all.

Maybe because, in a sports car sense, the Corvette is superior in almost every way? Just a thought.

early one morning last week i wandered around the dealership i bought my car from looking for someone to ask questions about the electric power steering, what parts were involved and all that. i had to convince two dealers that the '13s come with electric power steering, but thankfully the tool troll they hooked me up with in the service department knew a little bit more than they did.

also stephens isnt a 'vette dealer, or a ZL1 dealer so I wouldn't expect him to know everything about them, but I'd expect (well more like hope nowadays) that a dealer would know.

If your going to try to make yourself look superior to a car salesman and than come brag about it on the internet, you should atleast know the correct data you are spewing.
A ZL1 is not over 600HP.

I question this as well, a new base model corvette starts at $49,600. And runs 0-60 in about 4.3... Maybe it's a question of the dealer raising the bar a bit?

It's easy to beat up on salesmen; some are guys who really don't have the right personality. Some do. But it's uncool to just smack them down, they are trying to do a job and while it's a job most people look down on for some reason, that's no way to treat somebody.

For example, when I was talking about trading in my '07 Sol GXP, I was told 'well, you see, they don't make them anymore and Pontiac is gone...' as in 'well here's why we'll low-ball you.'

All you have to do is be prepared. I asked him what would happen if I was trading in a 2005 Corvette. He asked me why I asked that. I told him "Well you see, GM doesn't make 2005 Corvettes anymore either, so what's your point about my Pontiac? It's a GM vehicle just like the Corvette and GM is still in business. The parts books are in your service bay"

We weren't confrontational or angry about it. It's a game.

Yeah the vette is 430 hp zl1 is 560 I think. Its no comparison I have a c5 with 350 hp ls1 the vette is faster than my ss camaro. So yeah vettes are lighter, geared differently I'm pretty sure the z06 or zr1 will smack the zl1 camaro. The base model vette I think is a tad slower than zl1.

Yes, the '12 Vette is just over 3200 lbs while the Camaro pushes 4,000; the LS3 is not a standout torque engine either. It's adequate but for the weight it has to move the Camaro would enjoy 50-60 more lb/ft from the factory
