I'd bet Ford had originally planned on all 4 Brembos. The car might be easier to change than the marketing literature. Probably determined the rears weren't needed, and pitched them for cost savings.
nope ford never had intention of putting brembos all around. Even the GT500 has single piston calipers in the rear. doesn't really matter performance wise...but it bothers me aesthetically

The Brembo package only puts Brembos up front?

That's new to me......and interesting.

i thought this was old news about it only having single piston calipers out back

i've never noticed that it said two piston calipers on the spec sheet.

If the Ford Mustang GT with the BBP stops shorter than it's two main competitors, and it does, how is that mediocrity? That reminds me of the Abercrombie phenomenon, the clothes are actually sub par when compared to most of the competition, but it's 'worth more' because it says A&F on it.

I think I'll just take the better stopping car however many pistons the calipers in back may have.

Then I think you should look into something like a CTS-V, ZR1, Enzo, Gallardo..

Lord knows Ford doesn't have anything close.. And the Ford GT was just a "Yeah but.." stunt.

The whole point is that we are talking about cars in the same price range. If car X has the best stopping performance in it's price range does it really matter if the rear calipers say Brembo on them? Or, does it just matter that car X is the best stopping car? As I said, given the choice, I'll choose the latter.

What about the buyers who actually believed they were getting Brembos on all four corners...

Would Ford make it right for those buyers?

Yes, because my descision is solely based on stopping distance.

Realistically Ford should have put Brembos all the way around, but it doesn't matter because the only ones who will ever notice are guys that do road courses. Normal driving will never get to the point where you need the fade resistance that Brembo's offer. Next, people will want stainless steel braided line for better feel.

Actually, I believe the whole point of this thread was about how Ford pretty much mislead or straight up lied about the contents of their Brembo package; it has nothing to do with which car can stop quicker than another.

the number of pistons has VERY little to do with braking distance. ESPECIALLY on the rears that contribute to maybe 10% of the braking. they dont even fade with heavy track use...

I am not sure whether or not it was intentional or not, but it was still a minor boo boo on Ford's part.

They're only a few hundred dollars...and shiny.

The number of pistons matter when you get to the larger sized pads/rotors and would like an even distribution of pressure for consistent and responsive braking....of course, it would be hard to notice the Brembos if they couldn't see them...even on the Camaro...in regular stoplight-to-stoplight driving.
