Road & Track Tests Hotchkis Track Pack

Road & Track tested our 2010 Camaro with our Track Pack and said, “A painless one-step program for a tighter, firmer Camaro”.

Article:
As handling goes, the new Camaro SS is no slouch relative to its competitors. Yet it’s sprung on the soft side for truly hard-core drivers, and there’s no factory-available upgrade (à la Ford Mustang’s Track Pack) for those who want to probe the limits at a racetrack.

Like nature, the aftermarket abhors a vacuum and Hotchkis Sport Suspension has leapt into the void with its very own Camaro Track Pack. Retailing for $1298, the Pack consists of higher-rate coil springs that lower the car by 1 in., larger polyurethane-bushed tubular anti-roll bars (1.25-in. front and 1.0-in. rear that are 210 percent and up to 170 percent stiffer, respectively, than stock Camaro SS parts), and a beautiful 11.5-lb. aluminum brace that ties the front unit-body longitudinals together with the rear subframe. The pieces are all powdercoated, the rear bar is 3-way adjustable, and the brace is made of low-profile elliptical-section tubing.

In back-to-back drives of a Camaro SS (before and after the Hotchkis modifications), we recorded a slightly higher slalom speed (70.9 mph versus 70.2) and a significant 0.05g increase in skidpad grip (0.86g to 0.91g), both tests done with the factory-issued wheels and Pirelli P Zero tires, 245/45ZR-20 front and 275/40ZR-20 rear. Turn-in was snappier, quick transitions were more decisive and understeer reduced (rear bar was set to full stiff), yet the ride quality remained quite streetable, just a tad firmer than Ford's factory equivalent on the Mustang. Just the ticket for the occasional autocross/track enthusiast who still uses his car as a daily driver.

I Love That!!! It really let's you use the horse power that you have!!!

It's funny, the Hotchkis guys love to let these magazine guys test (I mean Punish) the parts that they Design and Build, it means they get to spend the day at the Track!

It's true that we never turn down a chance to be at the track. We enjoy seeing our cars pushed by other drivers in order to see how the Hotchkis products react to input by drivers with different skill levels. This helps us design real world products…something that many "race" companies forget is important.

Just a thought, Will Hotchkis be giving a group discount on the track pack if enough people buy?

What about the strut tower brace does that need to be in the track pack also ? or is it even necessary on a 5th gen ?
the reason i want to know is that i have one but not installed yet and I'm not sure i want the extra weight if not needed.
