Very Thin Paint?

Well hand washed my car today and found 2 chips in it. I can not believe how thin the paint is. Have one on the hood and one on the drivers door.

So what is the best way to touch these up? I will have to order some paint from GM but how do you guys touch these up with out looking to bad?

Thanks

Scott

Battle scars! DO NOT experiment and try to smooth/feather it out, sand, touch up, etc. etc. you will make it worse and you will regret it. If they really bother you, let a pro take care of it. However, a little dab of color-matched touch up paint will take care of it. You can expect to have more especially in the nose area.

Buy touch up paint from dealer. Comes with a small brush.

I'm seriously considering this for the front fascia at least. I was at a friend's house this weekend and one of his friends showed up with a Lexus IS350 that had a 3M clear bra on it - couldn't even see it until I was about 12 inches away. The car's paint color was similar to CGM and the transition line was nearly invisible.

In the future the whole car will be wrapped with just black paint under the bottom and you change your wrap every few years. By just emailing your design to the shop and dropping it off.

What color do you have? I have a black mustang right now and can't believe how thin the paint is. I have been worried that my black Camaro will be the same way.

First thing I will be doing to this car.

My wife drove my Grand Am into Boston every day for a couple years. Rocks from The Big Dig Construction destroyed my paint. This stuff didn't exist back then. I wish it did.

U think the paint is thin u should see how easily it is to dent a panel. I work in the weld shop for a japaneese automaker u so much as sneeze on a panel its dented. The scrap bin is very full of panels by the end of the day. That is why i park my car a football field away from everyone

How would you repair a RJT. Paint job? with just the top color or a 2 part process?

Does GM not send out free touch-up paint anymore? We got a tube of it for our Malibu...
