Driving at New York City

Drove my camaro to NYC , as I pass through the city, those terrible terrible road conditions make my heart bleed, I felt those road bumps and potholes is shaking everything lose in my car, god, worst driving experience ever, I almost felt that as I went pass by those up and down bumps and potholes, that stuffs under my car is falling off the car, has anyone ever experienced bad road condition driving? I feel bad for my camaro, does this kind of driving hurts the car badly?

In order for the car to reach sale, it goes through thorough testing. One of the testing scenarios is it has to go somewhere like 25-30mph over an unbelievably rough road, something you most likely won't encounter in real life in the USA. A passing wouldn't allow the car to just "fall apart"

With that in mind it is like anything if you abuse it over a rough road, you do have a chance overtime to damage the car or "loosen" items. Take it slow over these roads, avoid pot holes when possible and you shouldn't have to worry too much, especially if it's once in a blue moon you're driving over these.

For the most part, my biggest concern would be pot holes and the wheels/tires.

The potholes will be repaired by this coming winter.

you'll more likely damage a rim/tire than anything else. you'll be fine.

I'd be more concerned about the taxis, and bicycles riding too close.

I try to avoid NYC, Staten Island Expressway, Cross Bronx Expressway and Belt Parkway as much as possible. Worst roads ever! But once you get passed you won't take any smooth road for granted again, lol...

Drove our RV through New York City in 2007--holy cow what a nightmare that was. Can't remember the exact route, but we went across Staten Island to the east side of Manhattan somehow. Lots of fast traffic, rough road and narrow lanes.

I have family in and around the city and visit from time to time but I drive my truck when doing so. My Camaro will never see the Big Apple. Pennsylvania interstates are bad enough.

I've driven all my cars into the city every once and a while to get food or something and have never had any trouble. With my Camaros I just go slow and serve to avoid the larger bumps and dips. I have a Subaru beater that I just plow through anything and it hasn't given me any trouble.

The roads and traffic are mind numbingly terrible though, no question.

Every day in my DD. The key to skillfully driving in NYC is to get to know every pothole, alternate street route and parkway by a first name basis.

Every time I cross the river into Cincinnati I experience this. KY's roads are a blessing compared to Ohio.

I cruised through a couple of years ago after lowering my ride 1.5". It was the worst. Then I got to Maine and it was no better. When we returned to va we went for no tolls and went up around ny city. Great ride.
