Amp install kit

Just as it says, what are some good recommended amp install kits?
I also see items by Streetwires like the compression fitting ring connectors, are they worth a darn?
Also if the amp takes 4 gauge for power would moving to 2 gauge fit without a distro block?
Cheers

They make adaptors to go from 2g to 4 g, or you can trim, or add a distro block. I'd get the step down adaptors if you wanted to run 2g.

Stinger, Streetwires, Kicker, Memphis, Audiopipe are several off the top of my head. RF has their own as well. Ebay amp install kits, you'll find some nice pricing there. Also, strand count is the important. The higher, the better.

Would you recommend running a larger gauge power/ground than the recommend 4 gauge that SD mentions in their install manual?
Cheers

If all you are going to run is the single amp, and as short as the power run is going to be, 4g should be more then enough. That said, it doesn't hurt to go a little bigger, but in this case, with ~400wrms, it isn't necessary. If our battery was under the hood, eh, maybe bigger would be better. As it is, I doubt it.

We use Stinger HPM exclusively in our shop primarrily because it is very flexible (makes a difference some times) and the high strand count of the coppper also be wary of copper coated aluminum (this is found in the cheaper kits. also be careful of the cheaper kits that will be more of a 6 ga. wire with lots of extra insulation to give you the illusion of proper gauge wire. Stinger HPM and PRO the better street wires stuff the better kicker wire ect are all good stuff.

IAS-
Do you let the fuse holder hang free or is it mounted somehow? Also how do you ground the amp when you install?
Cheers

we ALWAYS mount our fuse holders. this one is screwed to the metal of vehicle.

the grounds for these amps are done to the floor behind the amp rack... wire wheel to the paint to give us bare metal then pre-drill our hole and usually use a #10 screw and Star washer. then we will silicon over the ground point to prevent rusting.

Little hard to see in the pic as the wire for the subs is hiding it but the grounds are there.
