Its not launch control related, and launch control is on the manuals not autos.

However my suggestion is to use launch control to make sure the car hooks up, guaranteeing that either your car will move, or blow up, but at least you have an answer.

Well, WE OWN 60% of GM, and if we didn't they would be out of business, so yes, GM owes the people more now than ever.

Honestly, I know of MANY people who would only buy a GM now if their standard warranty was 10 years/ 100,000 miles bumper to bumper.

So, if you ask most people now, GM really must do what the people want or look at a grimm future.

I'm kidding....i would not recommend that to anyone....
Why? It's a muscle car. It can't take it? How else can we spin our tires?

Given that a car is something you can die in, yes, I think we should all expect our cars to be able to work correctly...I think GM OWES us that.

Really I would expect GM to at least let us know the VIN range affected. I'm not exactly thrilled about having to physically break a critical link in my drivetrain in order to find out if I'm going to have problems down the road due to the output shaft finally snapping under normal driving conditions out in the middle of nowhere. Plus the idea of my driveshaft breaking loose at 6000 rpms mere inches from my body with only the trans tunnel to protect me doesn't sound very smart.

if GM did exactly what 'people' want it would be out of business in 2 weeks. The average person doesn't know jack about how to run an international company, so I'm going to let the GM guys do the job they were trained for here...

Then don't buy one?

I'm not going to expect a company to release trade secrets or manufactuering problems to a consumer just because they DEMAND it. If they don't like that answer, they can find a different vehicle.

Hopefully GM doesn't go the route of Nissan and the GT-R.

GT-R Owner: Hey guys, the transaxle on my GT-R broke at the track last night! Can I get that looked at?

Nissan: Sir, the black box says you've used the launch control feature of your GT-R. Once. And that 5% of your car's run time has been been at maximum torque.

GT-R Owner: You guys programmed that feature into the ECU...and the transaxle should be designed to handle maximum torque, right?

Nissan: Wrong, sir. Warranty voided. A new transaxle will be $20,000. Have a great day.

GT-R Owner: But...I already...gave you...$80,000 for this car.

Nissan: Yeeah...gotcha by the short hairs, son.

why are people being so over dramatic about this there is no danger to your life (how many deaths or injuries have been reported with this problem- answer none) GM is not voiding warrenties so even the mention of the GT-R is pointless & worthless... the info has been realeased already faulty parts from Termec end of story people let it go already break it if you got it & get it replaced 2 days isn't so bad

Chances are the transmission will fail within warranty if your car was built within this time frame and it has the questionable components. Take it out and hammer on it, there is no way the dealer will refuse a repair since this is a known problem.

It's unlikely that every 6-speed built recently will be effected, GM would certainly notify the owners if this were the case.

And GM has shown us that they can? Yep, they sure can...... Last I checked, I wasn't filing chapter 11.

The rules have changed. No more business as usual.

Untill Fritz the Ditz is out, it will be business as usual - I have absolutely no faith in him after the stunt he pulled with Lutz over the G8.
