I was told you should use R because the battery will go dead of it sits too long in anyother gear. corvette has same problem.

Went on Vacation for a week and the car sat in the Garage with the E-brake set only, started up just fine when i got home, no dead battery.

My friend that is also the dealer I'm buying the car from has corvettes. He was telling me that you needed to park them in R or it would drain the battery. I have no idea why. I thought this was crazy ,but It happened to him in his new vette (2005) that's how he found out about it. He didn't know for sure if it's the same on the camaro. Can anyone verify for sure. He thought it was since the trannys were the same design.

I went over to the corvette forum and just read about it. It looks like the corvette had this stupid set up on the 05's and gm redesigned it so you don't need to park in R anymore. So, I would say the camaro is the same. With that being said you should aways park in the lowest gear which is first and reverse(which by the way is the same gear). Reverse If heading down a hill or incline. First if heading up. Either on the flat. Alway use the E brake.
