OIL CHANGE

So im changing my oil this weekend and I have some questions hopefully you all can help me. I would appreciate it!

So Ive used only synthetic oil sense I bought the car but some people have been telling me its ok if I change over to regular. Is it ok if I change over to regular? Will it be bad for my motor or would there be no effect other then having to change my oil sooner?

What oil filter do you all prefer? Is K&N filters any good and worth the money?

Im changing my oil myself this time and for the 1st time sense they've always charged me around $75 everywhere I go so i hope to save on the labor. Is there any tips I should know about?

I would appreciate you alls help!

Stay with Synthetic

I've heard that it's best to stay with Synthetic Oil. Not sure why that is but probably a good idea.

You better stay with synthetic, better to pay a little bit more than a whole bunch later!

Look in your Owner's Manual to see if it's ok to use regular oil.

Owners manual says to use synthetic. Don't cheap out on your cars blood.

Oil Myths are so abundant. You can change from Synthetic to Dino to blend to any of the three any time you change the oil. You can mix Syn and dino or any of the three. It will not harm the engine in any way, never.

I haven't found a lot of options for an oil filter for the V6 yet. I have been using the Fram Tough Guard TG8765 in mine with Mobil 1 5w30 gold cap fully synthetic oil. I'd like to find another better filter locally but Mobil 1 hasn't released one yet that I know of or have found.

And on the V6 the owners manual does not state to use sythetic only. The V8 may, but not the tougher v6

I use the AC delco filter. It is the same filter as the K & N for half the price. A few mechanics have told me to never use a fram filter. I would use synthetic oil also.

Or a canister oil filter I'd agree to never use a Fram. I have not used a Fram for years on any of my cars until this one. The reason is the way the filter is attached to the canister isn't the best on Frams from the ones I've seen or cut apart. Since our filter isn't a canister filter then I am not opposed to the Fram Tough Guard as it is a good fitler media and can take the 7500 mile oil change intervals just fine. If you have an oil filter issue with this car and the non canister type filter you will see it when you pull the filter out. Then again you can't go wrong with the A/C Delco one either since it was fine for GM to use. I will probably try it next time because it is a few bucks cheaper than the tough guard.
