The rumors about retro fitting the Recaros is that they would be hard to get at first because all of the available ones would go to the Z/28's, but then if they are talking about letting you order a '14 ZL1 with them I don't know.

I'm going to say truth is you probably cannot make a bad decision here, I mean the differences are going to be so subtle especially if you would put the Recaros in either way.
He makes a good point, getting them will be hard or expensive to get for the first 6 months to a year. If you really want them then I'd order the 14 with them in it already.

Just remember the nightmare caused when people wanted to order the black 10 spoke wheels! How long did that take to finally happen? Production cars get first pick, then any defective seats in any of the new cars will get replaced first. That was the process used for the wheels at least?

If it were me I would definiteliy go for the '14. I happen to like the '14 package (rear lights, bumper valence, Recaros).

Who is Becky? I'm looking for a 13 and a good dealer anywhere on the east coast that will give a great deal.

I'd get the 14 if you're getting deployed and the car ends up sitting for a long time. But if you prefer the look of the 13 rear and can save money, then get a 13. I was waiting to see the 14 before I got my 13, and didn't like the refresh. Hurried to track one down with the options I wanted and saved 2500 off sticker in the process. I've seen a few 14s now in person, and even tho I prefer the 13 still, I would be just as happy in a 14 for the seats cancel out the tail.

Save up a butt load of that tax free money and then make sure you talk to Becky at Rogers Chevrolet when you get back and are ready to pick out the one, exactly what you want. Be safe and hurry back home!

I'd get the 2014, especially if you want Recaros and are OK with the taillights. The taillights have grown on me, they look fine, just not as unique anymore. Stay safe over there in Afghanistan.
