Guess who: famous quotes

Post the name of the person responsible for saying the quote, and offer a famous quote with a hint for the rest of us to guess. Try not to cheat and use Google

I'll start:

Hint: legendary North American hockey star

"If the Russian fans boo their players in Moscow like you people are booing us, I'll come back and apologize personally to every one of you, but I really don't think that will happen. We gave it and are doing our best. All of us guys are really disheartened. . . We came out here because we love Canada. They're a good hockey team, and we don't know what we could do better, but I promise we will figure it out. But it's totally ridiculous - I don't think it is fair that we should be booed."

I believe that was Phil Esposito (spelled right?)

I did not Google but asked a hockey nut I know if she knew (yes, a girl)

Ok, my quote:
"At this juncture, however, the impact on the broader economy and financial markets of the problems in the subprime market seems likely to be contained."

Correct and correct spelling!

That was Espo's famous speech in which he told off Canada on TV...and then lead the Canadians to victory against the Soviets in the '72 Summit Series.

The "juncture" quote...I have a guess but I think I'm wrong. Somebody else can play

Well if no one is playing.....

"How come you know my name? You aren't supposed to know my name, Buttercup." "I know lots of things Mathilda. I have gazed through space telescopes into the heart of the galaxy. I have seen a dawn of four hundred billion suns. It all means nothing without life. You and I are special, Mathilda. We are alive."

Delmar, from O brother, where art thou

How about this one:

hint: most famous as a director of comedic films

" Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die. "

Mel Brooks?

If I'm right, here is one I'll throw out there -

"Eating some cheese, drinking some wine, catching a few rays man ...."

Hint: That's odd, isn't it?

Yes, Mel Brooks.

And I do know exactly who that quote is from. Wanna hear my other dog imitation?

But I'll let somebody else play.

Donald Sutherland, aka "Oddball" from Kelly's Heroes

"The hell with them fellas. Buzzards gotta eat…same as worms.", says he while spitting a chaw.

You are correct, it was Oddball.

Your quote is from another one of my favorites, but I'll leave it for someone else to play!
