Magnaflow exhaust question

Last week I put the magnaflow axle back 16582 muffler deletes on my ss for two reasons. 1 I wanted it loud and 2 I was getting the rattle from underneath that is discussed in another section on here. The axle back sounds good but I'm still getting the damn noise. I'm taking it in tomorrow morning to the dealer. I'm not sure what route to go here. If they replace the factory exhaust I'm gonna have to reinstall the axle back. There's also the possibilty they deny it because of the magnaflows even though the sound is coming from the middle of the car and not behind the axle. Which brings me to my next point, the magnaflow 16580 is the full exhaust with the same axle back portion that I already purchased and installed. Is there much difference between the full magnaflow exhaust and what i currently have (factory exhaust with muffler deletes). Id also like to know if i can purchase the rest of the magnaflow system as it's the same as what I already have from the axle back with out having to buy the entire system and have 2 axle backs. Sorry for long thread but this noise is really pissing me off considering my car has 1400 miles on it.

take it to a muffler shop and get it on a lift... should be easy to find the source of the rattle. I had my share of rattles.

I can only produce the sound with the car under load or hitting bumps.

I just put the catback competition Magnaflow exhaust. I have to say I thought it would sound louder... But you can feel a slight boost in power.

i bet it's a heatshield... you will see it. Look for less than 1/2" clearance to anything.

I had to take one of my heatshields off. I could have bent it, but it didn't look like it was doing anything but rattling.

I was underneath the car this afternoon and the only thing I could get to make a similar noise was the heat shield. None of them seemed loose though.

heatshield is probably not moving... shake the exhaust and see if it hits the heatshield... Mine was.

I tried and and nothing. It happens at over 3500 rpm or over bumps. It's tough to do much under there lying on you back in the garage. I made sure everything was tight on the axle back so that's not it either. When I hit big enough bumps i can feel it in the console area near the shifter.

Yeah mine makes a rattling noise also! Didn't do it till I put LT's on, then it started! This might help solving my problem! Never thought of a heat shield!

I think what are trying to say is what would it take to make your axle back in to basically the Magnaflow 2.5" Comp cat-back. If so, then all you need to do is add an Magnaflow #1386 resonated x-pipe. Thats what I did the first time.....made mine into a cat-back.

Which system comp cat-back do you have? The 2.5" Comp cat-back should basically be a muffler delete and resonated x-pipe. You should definately hear that. Not that it's real loud but should make a noticable difference.

Now, if you have the Magnaflow 3" Comp cat-back and you are still running factory headers and cats....then that is a known for that exhaust. All you have do is add some headers with some HF cats and it changes everything.

Cat back runs from the headers back and an axle back runs from just in front of the rear axles back.

Correct....but from what I took out of your question was what it took to make it into a cat-back. If you have a #1386 resonated x-pipe to your system you'll basically have the same thing as Magnaflow's 2.5" Comp cat-back system.
