Chrysler 300 SRT8 vs Camaro SS

Okay, heres the deal. A few weeks ago, my broker drives up in his Chrysler 300 SRT8 thinking he's all bad and stuff. I've got an SS Camaro on order. I tell him this and he tells me he could blow me off the road any day of the week. I've seen him a couple times since and he maintains he could blow me away. I'm not believing this, but I don't have my car yet and can't prove anything on the road. I know little about the 300 SRT8, but I know in my soul that the new Camaro must have the edge. Does anyone out there have any solid facts, specs, etc. that I can throw in his face until I get my car and blow him off the road?

While I have decent respect for his car, there is no way I believe he has any advantage over the Camaro. Help me put him in his place.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to proving this on the road, but until I have the hardware to prove my point, I'm relying on you all. Thanks

That year model was heavier but equal hp. I don't know much about them either but might be a driver vs driver race not car vs car.

the camaro 2ss has more HP and alot lighter than a chrysler 3000 by about 300 lbs or so i would believe the camaro should beat it easily

If we are talking stock for stock,
Well you have more horsepower and about 300 pounds less weight.

But it is still a powerhouse, apparently C&D got a 13.2 out of it, so driver's race

SRT8 is big, fast, and consistent. 13.2 @ 109 is not only the stated 1/4 mile time, but is the time that I see many running at (unless the driver does not know the subtleties of the traction control settings and the gas pedal). So, if you are stock and he is stock, it is a drivers race. If he is tuned and you are not, you will need help. Do you have an Auto or Manual?

I'll let you know in a few weeks. My brother has the same car and is also talking smack... haha. As soon as I have a few more miles on we're off to the track.

Just looking at them, there shouldn't be any competition. Even IF the 300 could beat the camaro on a track, the Camaro has styling point hands down. But my question is, can the 300 handle? Apart from brute HP/torque, can the 300 corner? We all know the Challanger can't keep up in the curves.

The manual SS shouldn't have much trouble with a SRT8. (drivers being equal) But the 300 SRT8 is impressive. Low 13's in the 1/4...and you can get a used one with low miles for about 25k.

The SS and the SRT8 (Challenger, Charger, 300) will be a good matchup. Shame they haven't lined them up head to head yet. Most stats show the SS with the M6 with a .1 sec and 1MPH advantage. The SS with Auto will likely have a disadvantage vs the SRT8 by the same amount. Trouble, I should think. Keep on your toes.

Power to weight ratio is certainly in your favor so with an M6 it's going to be up to you to extract enough performance to beat him. Roll races should be all yours while a dead stop run will be all up to your launching ability as its point and shoot for him.
Your LS3 will do a lot better once it has several thousand miles on the clock and loosened up. But since he’s already egging you on before you get the car I doubt you’ll be able to wait for that but every HP counts.

Happy hunting.

I know nothing about the SRT8, but I know a little about people. If you egg this guy on, he'll probably do his research and find out what folks here are saying...that he would likely get his ass beat....and then i presume he would go and hop up his 300 before race day in an effort to NOT have the egg all over his face.

So my friend, play this one safe and take his chides in strides and wait......and wait.....until the break-in is over after you get the car...playing the sleeper all the while.........and then whipping his ass will be a much sweeter victory!
