Well, I'm going to spend the night in bellingham so I don't have to leave at 5 am to meet you all. See you all at cost cutters at 8 am. Thanks.

It's a bit of a drive from Port Orchard, according to Google Maps about 2 hours 45 minutes, and you would take the Fauntleroy/Southworth ferry. If you didn't want to drive all the way up north, you could meet us in Mt. Vernon. If we leave Bellingham, it would probably take us 40-45 minutes to get there, though we might stop for pictures along the way on Chuckanut. I'll be bringing both my camera and video camera along.

Let me know what you want to do. If you want to meet in Mt. Vernon, you can PM me and I'll get you my phone number so that we can keep in contact that morning so we can meet.

If I'm counting correctly, it looks like 3 people besides myself have booked a hotel in Winthrop so far. That's cool, though I'm hoping a few more might commit to going as the cruise approaches.

Looking forward to it! Heck, I'm looking forward to getting my Camaro back next week sometime (I hope).

Well, the only thing that could possibly stop this would be that the pass wouldn't open. With the lack of snow this Winter, I've been pretty confident that it would open.

Checked the status of the pass today:

March 26: We are still aiming for a mid-April opening. After the first week of work, we nearly finished clearing the Cutthroat Ridge avalanche zone. We have pictures of this week's work on Flickr; there are some pretty great mountain snow shots. And, if you're NOT signed up for the North Cascades Highway e-mail updates, you're missing out. Jeff Adamson sent an update almost every day this week.

No problem. I'm checking every few days on the pass info, which may be delayed due to an avalance that'll slow things down a little. Still, it sounds like they are ahead of schedule and I expect that the pass will be open mid to late April.

Some of the pictures they have there are pretty cool.

This was the update from yesterday:

April 5: We had to re-clear up to 1.5 feet of new snow that fell over the weekend. We also found 10- to 12-foot deep avalanches across the road below Liberty Bell 1, 2 & 3. We are still aiming for a mid-April opening.

Yeah, I saw the picture of the pica. Cute isnt he? Would be neat if we crossed over with some snow still up there. Makes for great pictures.

Snow will still be up at the pass, almost certainly.

Generally, I've driven through the week after they open, and there's been 10-20 feet of snow piled high at certain parts of the pass. That stuff will melt off, but I'm guessing it'll be there when we go through on the first.

I'm just hoping that we get a nice day heading over, as it'll make it much better for picture taking and such.

No, I'll know a more exact date on Thursday.

It might have been ready early this week, but I decided to get stripes painted on it, which added a few days.

Also, found out today that the wiring harness they sent was for the LT, not the SS...so they are shipping that out again to be delivered on Thursday. I guess the Headlight was broken too and that had been shipped and was supped to get there today.

So...it -may- be ready on Saturday assuming the suspension checks out ok. It's getting close, and I'll be in the shop on Thursday to get some pictures. Hopefully will have it this weekend.

Was considering the Holiday Inn Express. The rate I found was for around $89. The time we leave all depends on my wife's workload that day. She works from home but, may have to make a run to one of her buildings. I would like to be in Mount Vernon around 2PM. Granite Boat Works is a Bryant boats dealer and I want to stop by there and check the new models.
