USB Port and Acc input in stereo
So a lot of talk is out their about getting broadband in your car. I read that the Camaro has a USB port. Where is it located? Can I jack my Ipod/Iphone into it and control it through the stereo or do I have to jack it into the Acc Jack that is usually located on the face of the stereo. Their are some new gadgets through various phone companies that now offer broadband through USB memory sticks. Thoughts or comments?

The USB port is in the center console storage area, under the armrest. There's a few pictures of it.

Amelia, check these threads out:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7087 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13545 The short answer is the USB port is in the armrest and you can connect your ipod, MP3 player or USB drive. Your music information will show up on the radio face. |

Yea, the 08 Cadillac CTS I just drove had it in the arm rest as well right next to the aux input. By the way, the CTS has the same 3.6 DI VVT engine as the Camaro and that thing THROWS you back in your seat! Very impressed!

Thanks! I found a great app for my Iphone so I can listen to radio stations all over the world! So much better than sattellite because it is free. 3G is pretty good on the road but broadband would be WAY better.

So if I understand correctly, the CC option gives you a USB and Aux input, or is the Input standard across the board?
*fingers crossed* |

You'lly probably have to use the headphone jack for that. The deck won't understand how to control the iPhone application.

Note that the USB is standard on the 2LT and 2SS and is an available option on the 1LT trim lines only.
The Aux input is standard with the Boston Acoustics stereo upgrade which is standard on the 2LT and 2SS again and an available option with the 1LT and 1SS. So, Zabo, if you're getting a 1SS you won't and can't get a USB. You can get an Aux input if you upgrade to the BA stereo.

it will work connected to the usb port .What you do is switch to the iphone as a source (like you were going to play something off it normally). Then you start up the app. The song that you were playing pauses (like you were getting a phone call) and then the audio from the app comes through. I do this on my alpine IVA-W205 everyday with the pandora radio app and youtube.

Thats not the USB port, that only comes with C&C packages or on the 2lt and 2ss and LT ( maybe cant remember)
You can pair your iphone, or blackberry or any other phone through bluetooth and play the phones music, it is amazingly clear and works from far, very far, i just saw and heard it in person today, P.S the SS sounds mean in person! |
