Newspaper window cleaning.

So what is this I keep hearing about using newspaper to clean your inside windows. I guess you apply the cleaner with a towel like normal, but then you crumple up newspaper to wipe dry with. Anyone around here do that. Supposed to help with lint being left behind, and leave no streaks or smears.

Its an old school detailers method... works great for the inside if you just have that haze/film that builds up sometimes. If you get anything more substantial than just the haze you'll end up with paper fibers and a mess.

That's all I use, works great and no lint left behind like some paper towels.

does it matter what color ink is on the paper? So then the newspaper is just for the final wipe down?

Ink Doesn't matter, use the newspaper like you would a paper towel, spray your window with a good glass cleaner and then wipe with crumpled newspaper until dry. The newspaper will surprise you in how well it holds up!

This is where the cheapo "Proforce" microfibers from Sam's Club actually do a good job. I would never use them on my paint, but on glass they clean well and don't lint.

Who even reads newspapers anymore to even be able to try this technique?

Be careful on your mirrors, I would only use a soft cloth there. But that's just me ...

I use terry cloth towels. They seem to be low on leaving lint behind. Just my 0.02.
