gm tpms reset tools cheap

The GM Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is designed to provide information to the customer allowing them to better maintain proper tire pressure in their vehicle. Proper tire pressure is important for optimizing safety, fuel economy, vehicle performance, and tire wear. Because the GM Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) recognizes a unique sensor ID in each tire, a TPM relearn must be performed after every tire rotation. On past model vehicles, there were two procedures to relearn the TPMS: a Dealer Procedure and a Customer Procedure. After putting the vehicle in relearn mode, the Dealer Procedure used a TPM Tool (J-46079) or equivalent to activate each TPM sensor individually (Tool Method). This allowed each rotated tire/TPM sensor ID to be stored in the new corner location. The Customer Procedure required increasing or decreasing air pressure in each tire by one psi (Delta Pressure Method) to active the sensor allowing each rotated tire/TPM sensor ID to be stored in the new corner location. When using either the Dealer or Customer Procedure, there was the possibility of picking up and storing a stray pressure sensor signal ID from another vehicle that may have been broadcasting n the area. If a stray sensor was inadvertently stored, the system would not recognize the stray sensor ID and the vehicle would set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) and illuminate the TPM System light. To commonize procedures and eliminate the possibility of storing stray sensor signals, starting with Late 2011 Model Year GM vehicles and all vehicles build after that point will support just one TPM relearn procedure - the Dealer Procedure. This change allows both Dealers and Customers a common, faster, and more efficient method to relearn tire pressures after each tire rotation. Because all future TPM Relearns will be performed using the Dealer Procedure, customers wanting to rotate their own tires and perform their own TPM Relearn will be required to utilize a relearn tool. GM has designed and manufactured an inexpensive Relearn Tool (EL-50448) specifically for this application. Owner’s manuals have been updated accordingly, to verify the relearn method to be used, reference the Owner’s Manual – Tire Rotation – TPMS Sensor Matching Process.

$58 is cheap,, the other dealer kent moore tool is over $800,, the otc tool i own was about $300
yes, 2010 and older vehicles can be done by the cust,, but is is a pain to do,, and all gm 2011 and newer will only allow you to reset the tpms with the electronic reset tool

... note that it specifies LATE 2011's... mine is early, and lists both ways in the manual.

Question
Will the new tool work with my original 2010 wheels AND my new 1LE wheels from PartsTaxi?

It should, I got the low end kent moore EL-50448 one. I could set my fronts no problem, But the rears on my aftermarket wheels have the TPMS near the middle of the wheel. 10 1/2" with 315s. Even the dealer had problems setting those with the Big $800 version. But factory wheels (or TPMS mounted on the edge of wheel) shouldn't be an issue.

I bought the 19.99 CUB TPMS reset tool from Tirerack. Even though the Camaro is not listed, it worked fine using the Cadillac selection. 29 bucks total with shipping.

My car spends the winter on the stock wheels(polished 5 spoke)& tires(pirellis) in the garage. The other week I uncovered it and parked in the driveway to prep it for a HPDE.I checked the car's tire pressure display and got the expected pressures. Removed wheels & tires, bled the brakes and put on my 1LE wheels & tires. Spent the past weekend at NJMP doing a HPDE ,at the track I noticed there wasn't TPS warning on the dash. W T H??? I haven't bought the relearning tool yet! Checked the tire pressure display, I have accurate pressures displayed! WHAT THE HECK????

Do all the cars use the same TPMS? Or do some use a 315 MHZ and some 433 MHz? When looking for TPMS sensors on Rock Auto they show different sensors. Car in question would be a 2015 1LE.
