interesting how the 2010's have 9222 starting and the 2011 has 9224

And these are the NAGS part numbers for the aftermarket windshields

DW1813 GTY Windshield (slr contr)(W/Third Visor Frit)(2010/2011)

DW1814 GTY Windshield (slr contr)(W/Third Visor Frit)(W/Remote Start)
(2010/2011)

DW1877 GTY Windshield (slr contr)(W/Third Visor Frit) (HUD)(2011)

DW1878 GTY Windshield (slr contr)(W/Third Visor Frit)(W/Remote Start)(HUD)
(2011)

And yes Pilkington has all of these windshields in stock. PGW only shows the dw1813, and 1814 are available.

cool....thanks for the pic.

I just wanted to make sure GM was still using Pilkington glass.

and just so everyone can see the difference in GM glass and aftermarket Pilkington glass here is a pic of the Pilkington non HUD aftermarket. the only difference is the GM logo

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but it's quite relevant. I have to have the windshield replaced in my 2011 2LT (HUD/Remote Start) - is the correct windshield still only available as a GM part? If it is, it will be easier to get the OEM, rather than fight for it.

Yes, I am going to be stuck using Safelite... they fixed a small chip a few months back, but it has spidered.

you dont have to use safelite you can use whoever you want. just because your insurnace says use safelite does not mean you have to. even if they did the chip and it cracked out.

dw1878 gty is the hud windshield with remote start.
dw1877 gty is the hud windshield without remote start.

both are available from pilkington which is the exact same windshield that comes in the car (except it does not havce the GM logo)

What i mean is safelite fixed the chip that has spread. I suspect thst ins. Will want safelite to credit the chip repair towards the replacement

that wont happen. typically chips that crack out after being repaired are not credited. if i had fixed the chip and it cracked out and needed replaced i would help you out with your deductible. what will most likely happen is you call your insurance and tell them you need a new windshield, and if you do not want to go with safelite just tell them you have a cracked windshield and it needs replaced. dont bother telling them it was from a repaired chip that didnt hold. this way you can get a new windshield at a shop that you trust using pilkington glass (safelite can get pilkington glass as well, but they like using the glass that they make which is garbage). even if you tell them it was a chip that cracked out you can request to use whatever shop you want.

In case people are reading this and don't think there's a big difference between OEM and aftermarket glass, please replace only with OEM. All glass is not created equal, and I don't mean for niche features like HUD. My Altima's windshield needed replacing, and since I was turning it in at lease-end, I went cheap and 3rd party - there was a noticeable amusement-park mirror type effect as you looked left to right. Not drastic enough to crash your car but definitely noticeable. Spend the extra money and make it right!

*PS doing it in Texas is a major PITA, because you have to replace the inspection sticker, registration sticker, AND a TollTag sticker if you've got one.

Different shop will be replacing using Pilkington. Sounds like all of them that they produce have the GM logo at production, and it gets buffed off if not sold to GM... Hope it looks OK

I hope not. The guy on the other end of the line said they have seen some not-so-good ones.

Well, an update. There are 2 Pilkington part numbers for the HUD and remote start options. One is for vertical remote start module, the other is horizontal. The 1878 pn is horizontal, the other, which the installer picked up was vertical (for late 2011) in all of this, we discovered that the OEM glass is only $15 more than Pilkington, so getting that next week
