Cat delete shortie headers worth it ? Turbo car

My car is an L99 with a turbonetics T 76
Was looking into a few different things and I figured id see what people on here thought

Are shorty headers worth it with a Turbo car ?
was thinking of getting ARH shortys

Is deleting the cats ( with stock manifolds ) worth it ?

Thanks in advance .

Leave the stock manifolds alone. The cast manifolds do a great job coping with the heat. and they're not as restrictive as your turbo is. Not to mention, fitment is already tight with these systems, You'll make way more problems than its worth to change anything in that area.

Get rid of the the cats (JBA makes a catless connector that we have used in the past on turbonetics systems), make sure you have a good free flowing "turbo back" exhaust, add a boost controller, and get re tuned.

You should easily and safely get another 50rwhp out of doing this.

After this your next limit will be your fuel system and then your engine

Thanks

Shorty headers will not fit with the Turbonetics kit. Get the non catted mids and you will pick up some good power.

Does the car have to be tuned right away or can it be driven? Id have to install cat deletes then get it tuned a few weeks later don't have the time to do it any other way

It depends. I had mine done at the same time. Sometimes its needed to get rid of the check engine light. Good question though. I think its fine but I don't know if the computer could think there's a problem after a long time and then change the fuel mixture. If you're going to have a lapse in time between the delete and tune then the best thing is with some spark plug antifoulers to add a void between the exhaust pipe and oxygen sensor.

You can drive the car safely without retuning, but I would not recommend driving under boost or anywhere near full throttle. The gains will be substantial getting rid of the cats, and your tune will need to reflect it.

and you will most likely pick up some bs codes until ya get it tuned.

Thanks

Any dual 3" system with straight through mufflers, or no mufflers at all, will work just fine. That covers about half the manufacturers out there.

I personally do not like any of the new "fancy" exhaust technologies. Every time, they've made it to my dyno. I've takin them off and picked up serious HP going back to a nice straight through. (I can see staight through it )

Thanks

So I currently have Jba catless mids ...when I buy my turbonetics kit will I need a custom tune or different injectors/ fuel pump to keep my motor safe ? I don't Plan on doing much else after the kit , and I'm not looking to make 600 hP or anything. Just looking to run an otherwise stock motor with a turbonetics kit

I had my cats gutted and have a 3 inch exhaust from the turbos back. you should be fine with the stock headers. there perfect for turbos. (I had ARH long tubes but took them off and got a set of BBK shorties.)
