Headers & High Flow Cats

Hello,

I have a 2013 ZL1 and looking into high flow cats and headers. I am think of getting Stainless Steel Works package. Will upgrade of headers and high flow cats void my factory warranty? What is your suggestions?

Thanks

Yes because you'll going to need a tune with the headers

The headers and mids are normally not a warranty issue. Most headers require tuning the car however because the new high flow cats throw check engine lights. The only header set up that does not require cats is Kooks header with green cats. We have sold a several sets of these with great success. If you have questions, call us @ 443-730-9428!

If I wanted to get some Kooks lt headers, and green cats, would you be able to ship them to my address in CA?

We can..however any LT headers would not be legal for use in CA, no matter what kind of cats you have. They are for off road use only. You would buy with that understanding.

My car is tuned with full LPE 650 HP package, Kooks Headers with High Flow cats, NOWEEDS cutouts, KDI Heat exchanger, etc. My supercharger intercooler pump went out, and GM replaced the pump. At first, the service manager was skeptical that they would not warranty it. However, in the end, after almost 2 weeks of waiting for the pump on backorder, they requested a calibration report on my car. The service director got an email from the GM warranty engineers, that they would not block my warranty as this time, so they replaced my pump.

It's on a case-by-case basis. Take that for whatever it means. I'm pretty sure if my engine gets blown up, my warranty is out the window but as far as little stuff, they might warranty it.

Just for info, I just went thru this whole warranty ordeal with a tuned zl1.

Every dealer is different but it is great for all of us to see that GM took a look at your file outside of the dealership level and did not void your warranty.

Good luck getting everything sorted out this week. Let me know if you need anything.

Installed SW long tube headers and their high flow cats , my question is will this mod throw a code for sure or not? I'd like to get through this year without a tune if I could. Pro's or con's if I don't do the tune? I do know I can get little more HP with a tune! Thanks Todd

I just installed longtubes and High Flow cats last Thursday. First day no codes, second day codes all the way till yesterday. I pulled the negative battery cable yesterday evening. No codes since 5pm yesterday.

just curious, how about installing long tubes and high flow cats, then doing the fuse pull? wouldn't that reset the adaptive fuel trim data? to make it relearn.

Ask the dealer that does you work. longtubes require tune. With a tune on the car most major failures could be denied due to tune. IE catastrophic enigne failure.

in theory the GM/Dealer has to prove that the mod contributed to the failure. headers an tune add power though so if you had a drivetrain issue they could lean back on the addd power.

if you stereo stopped working or something though it is not like they can say more power caused that.

Our Ram is moded 6" lift, tuner, etc, etc and our dealer still did work for me. front coupling ujoint went out. I would have denied me. 37" tires extra 125hp 250lbs of torque. they fixed it.

everybody on the web will try to tell you how they think it will go but your dealer and GM are the ones that approve or deny waranty and I can tell you that all dealers are not consitant on waranty work. there are mod friendly dealers out there.
