Insurance for ZL1

Don't think we have an insurance thread for the ZL1. I know you guys in the States have it pretty good insurance rate wise. Here in Ontario they bend you right over so far it hurts!
Im paying $1600 a year for my SXT Charger,$1600 a year for my 1000cc Sportbike. Me and my wife have perfect records, no claims or tickets. Not to mention we are both 50 and 51 years old.

My insurance agent (Nationwide) tells me that the ZL1 will be about $400 per six months. Thats a hundred more than the GTO. Both are for high limits full coverage.

I hear you I live in NY so I understand what your saying about the big city higher rates but the bike I would never pay that much. I own a chopper with a 111 S&S motor which comes out to 1850cc it's an expensive bike but I only pay $500 for the year . Who do you use for insurance on the bike ??

The problem on the bike is, its a Sportbike TL1000R .I have been riding bikes since 1982.Record is spotless. The R attached to the name means automatic $1000.If i was riding eg a Harley, it would be 5 or $600. The current trend here is for people to buy 600s.My daughters boyfriend pays almost 5k a year for a 600 sportbike, although he is a new driver! yes its insane but we have no choice other than not ride.Government makes insurance mandatory so they have us by the nutZ.I could take off collision to make it cheaper i guess...but then whats the point of the insurance .:(

Wow that's crazy for all it's worth I'm not sure if GMAC insurance covers Canada but they have great rates and I use them on my bikes maybe you could check into it.

Ya we do have GMAC here .I think I had my 2000 grand Prix GTP insured with them. I forgot to mention that our bike insurance is for the whole year and you gotta pay off the full premium in the first 6 months.I think they afraid people will cancel in winter. When it comes to scamming, our Insurance companies are no 1:(

I use state farm on my vehicles and my house but the rates they gave me on my bikes were ridiculous so I went with GMAC . I also have both companies pull the money straight from my bank account it saves me a couple dollars that way as well .

I just quoted changing from an SS to a ZL1 and it adds $50 to my 6 month premium - not too bad

$1400 a year with a 01 Jeep Wrangler, 01 VW Beetle, 10 Subaru Forrestor, and the 11 SS. Thats full coverage for all of them with high liability limits and $100 deductables for all vehicles. $3200 for a car and a bike is nuts! Going from a 10 Tundra 5.7L to the SS added $2 a month and adding the ZL1 in place of the Jeep would raise it $60 over the course of 6 months. Thank god for USAA!
