A camaro as a drifter?
I'm not really into drifting cars, but I heard they have to be rwd and high horse power. Would a camaro be a good choice???

-What is the range of steering wheel angles? Drift cars can turn their front wheels a lot allowing for extreme drift angles.. -Chassis Stiffness? Drift cars tend to have roll cages to stiffen them up due to the huge forces acting on the frame. -Throttle Response? You need pretty fine throttle control to properly drift a car. -Suspension Quality? Yes we have IRS, but how stiff is it laterally? Can it handle the huge forces generated by sustain drifting? Once these questions are answerd, we'll all have a better idea of what this car can due on the drift circuit... but I'd wager its a darn good starting point! ~LSx

I would say the car is more than capable of drifting. Throttle response will be more than enough, its naturally aspirated right. The Mustang team has a lightly moddified Mustang drifting. Our only drawback would be our weight. 240SXs were excellent drift cars last time I looked, been a few years, but even the GTO piloted by Rys Millen dominated for a long time. I wouldn't try it on 20" wheels though, I'd imagine there is a feather edge between a nice 4 wheel drift and a smashed Camaro

It would be a good choice, but its very heavy... But I'm sure it can drift just fine!

Yeah, I'm sure with all of the advanced suspension elements, the Camaro will drift fine. Not as good as... oh let's say a Challenger, of course... but still pretty damn fine.

Plain and simple, yes, the Camaro will make a decent drift car. And this whole "drift vs powerslide" nonsense is ridiculous.
Falken fielded a full unibody 69 Camaro with a 468 BBC and that thing drifts quite nicely. People have fielded C5s, a few GTOs, Mustangs, Chargers, and Vipers. I virtually guarantee you'll see a new Camaro in the Formula D/D1 Field in the next 4 years.
