problem with ground effects/can't resolve

I took delivery of my 2LT in June and had the gfx installed by the dealer, Whitlow chevrolet in Richmond Virginia. The problem is Whitlow was closed by GM when they closed the dealerships.now because I had the earlier version of the GFX, the front lip is falling off. I took my camaro back to Whitlow, but because they were no longer a GM dealership they would not fix it. I took it to the next nearest chevy dealer which was Royal chevrolet in Richmond and they said to contact GM customer service(they were useless) I spoke with the district specialist Frank Anderson 866-790-5600 ext 32692,I told him the story and he said that because I ordered the wrong part instead of the updated part they could not help me. WTF I ordered the part that was available at the time. He said that he was marking the compliant closed and that I was on my own. I would never buy another GM car again but can anybody give me an email address or sugest someone I could speak to other than the help center.

I would call GM again and report that guy. That is just outrageous! I'm sure that is NOT GM's policy and that guy could lose his job for that crap. Do not let this go and make sure that guy is exposed for the beyotch that he is.

PM "fbodfather" or "Number3" or other GM management that are regularly
on this site and run it by them. They might be able to suggest a solution.

Did you have the GFX installed before you took delivery or after?? If you had it installed before taking delivery then it will be covered under the factory warranty 3/36. If you had it installed after you took delivery then you will only have a 12/12 warranty. But either way it should still be covered at any dealer. The only issue you might have is if the installing dealer didn't install it properly, but even then if the dealer was closed by GM then GM should still take care of it for you. Theres not much I can do but there are people on this board that sure can .

This sucks, and this is why I don't do dealer addons. I don't know why for the price of that kit they can't put them on at the factory.

I think its a shipping thing. The stuff hangs to low and can be damaged during shipping. We also have to install the ground effect (carbon fiber) on the ZR1, and installing them is a totally different story .

when I took delivery of the car, the ground effects were not in, I took it back about three weeks later and had them installed. the help center is saying that because the dealer installed them wrong, tough shit.

Then If that's the case, he should have no problem getting it fixed if he ordered the car with it, before he took delivery like and earlier poster said.
It should be part of the factory warranty no matter if the dealer put it on right or ordered the wrong one. It isn't the op's fault that gm can't ship the car with it installed and has to rely on it's dealers to make sure it's installed correctly. I'm glad I have a dealer that goes above and beyond when it comes to problems or I would have been quite upset with all the problems we had with my wifes 2lt. (That we just got rid of). I can really feel for you and don't let them get away with it.

Yea sadly there are ALOT of techs cutting corners and not installing them properly. But at the same time there pissing off customers and making us techs that do a job correctly, other dealers and GM look bad. Hopefully someone here can help you with this.

Yes, if the veh was ordered with them then yes it is covered 3/36, but it wasn't clear in his first post so thats why I mentioned the 12/12 part. His problem now is the dealer installed it incorrectly and now there not a GM dealer. Most dealers won't fix a problem that GM won't pay for if they didn't sell or install the part because they would have to eat the cost. Now I think if that dealer was ax'ed by GM then GM should do the right thing and "goodwill" it for cutomer satisfaction. But like the old saying goes "the squeaky wheel always gets the grease" so just be a thorn in the side of GM customer service.

That is complete bull shit! you ordered the car with ground effects that GM can't install at the factory and has to rely on the dealer to install. Then Gm cans that dealer and tells you "your on your own". This is getting old seening all the crap that gm is dishing out on warranties. I would sue them just out of the principle of it even though it would cost more than fixing the damn thing.

In this case you should just stick this warranty up your ass because it means nothing if they will not cover the install of it. It's not his fault they can't ship the car with it factory installed. I guess the stripes aren't covered under warranty either on the early ones because the dealers put them on.

Well I'm just a guy at the bottom of the dealers ladder (tech). I'm just stating what I know. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, just giving my input.

NO,no ,you misunderstood. I'm not at all upset with you. That wasn't what I meant. What I meant was the warranty doesn't do anybody any good if it doesn't include the install.
