Ordering from Dealership
Hey there everyone!
I have spent quite a few hours on this site trying to find out how long it should take a dealer to get back to me with an order number. I placed the order on Dec. 20th and am curious on when I should expect to hear from them. I apologize if there is another thread on this topic... I am new to Camaro5. I have learned a GREAT deal so far with exploring all of your knowledge and experiences! Thank you! I have taken a few Camaro's for test drives and love them! I have ordered the 2SS with the L99 automatic, Sunroof, and Transformers Special Edition. Dealer said 6-8 weeks...which is what I have seen a lot of you were also told since ordering within the past month or so. Again, thank you for your help and all of your knowledge on the New Camaro!

It might be because they are off of production right now. Maybe once they start making again you will get it, I would call your dealer and ask them.

I kind of figured that since I ordered it on a Sunday...I would not get an order number because the Factories are probably closed. It is also the holidays, which im sure they are closed on certain days. Has anyone else ordered around the same date as me (Dec. 20th) and has an order number?? Thanks!

Yea. I believe the factories are shutdown till January 8th or something. Which is nice, you'll be getting the new relaxed workers They deserve a break, after making so many great cars.

There is another thing that factors in when you start an order with a dealership is that they have to have an allocation order (sort of like a permission to order a Camaro) first. Depends on the dealership of how many allocations they get before they are allowed to order. I would highly suggest to call your dealer when they open Monday and ask them if they have an allocation to make an order or are they waiting for one. They have to tell you if you ask. I know this the hard way not knowing when i first ordered and my dealer did not have an allocation yet. I got my deposit back (and yes you can get your deposit back) and go elswhere. They will give you an order number if you ask. I hope this helps.

Ordered my 1SS on 12/22 and I got my six digit preliminary code right away. I have it here on my copy of the GM Order Workbench. So yes, in my opinion,If the dealer actually placed your order you should have this sheet in hand with that six digit code. Also,as someone else stated,I would check with a reliable source and see if the Transformers edition is still orderable as I heard they may not be.

Your dealer can get you an order number immediately. They just need to punch the specs in the system. To get that order number built, they first need allocation from Chevrolet and then need to prioritize it among the other orders they may have. Hope you get yours soon and, on behalf of Chevrolet and all my fellow employees, thanks for your order and we know you will enjoy your new Camaro!

That said, I ordered mine on the 16th, and they just updated saying that my preliminary order has been accepted. I'm assuming that means I ordered in time, waiting on my sales rep to get back from lunch to follow up with him to see if that's so. Otherwise I'd have to rush once my reenlistment bonus is in to pick up one that's still on a lot somewhere.
