Yep happened to me also. Was glad to get P-Zero's off. They also follow road ruts bad.

G-Maxs for me.

Actually, the rule of thumb is new tires on the front (steer) wheels. I always assumed the opposite, since the rears wear faster, until talking with a tire guy...his explanation was as simple as "steering is of utmost importance", which makes sense. Thinking about, as an example I'd rather have the rear hydroplane than the front...!

We have General Gmax, Conti DWS and Yokohama Parada Spec. All of these are all season tires that will offer better wear vs the original Pirellis. All three get really postive review from our customer and have done well in our testing that we do at the Tire Rack. If you have any questions shoot me a PM or phone call.

Rudy - Frankly I wish I would have talked to you first and ordered form you...but alas I got a flat and had to make a hasty decision, and a bad one at that.
I can tell you I do not give a good review of the Paradas.

I put the Parada SpecX on the rears and my camaro handles like an SUV. They are horrible. yokohamam is giving 85% credit on them as the guy at a different tire shop said he didn't think the other tire shop should have recommended them. I'm replacing with the continentals. I'm still out the original installation charge - so expensive lesson. The paradas scare the crap out of me, horrible handling.

No I wondered if having the paradas also up front would have helped but the tire guy (America's Tire) said it would still handle poorly. I gotta trust someone so...

My question is I live in Hawaii and looking for new tires to put on. I have sent messages back and forth with Rudy @ Tire Rack. So with warm weather year round what is everyone's suggestion? I'm obviously not educated in this topic. Forgive my ignorance. Also I'm not into racing just everyday driver. Rarely do I "get on the pedal" and actually never turned off traction control. I'm right around 32k with original P zeros. So any advice would be appreciated.

I am @ 43k on the original Pzero's and rears are done.
Heard of a few that tried -

"275/40-20s on the front and 315/35/20s on the rear. They are Atturo AZ800 tires from onlinetires.com. Total cost for all 4 tires was $583.83 shipped to my doorstep. I ordered them and they showed up the next day."

...so that got my interest, just not much feedback on them and they are not primarily performance tires.

My story is very similar to ramsman34. I just put new 275/40/20 Hankook Ventus ST RH06 on 20x9s front and rear and couldn't be happier. I got a great price from Discount Tire Direct.

Prior to the Hankooks, i also experienced quirky handling while temporarily running Nexens on the rear and factory fronts. I expected the handling to be off with run flat construction up front and non run flats on the rear.

Tires IMHO are always a matter of compromise, the stock P-zeros handle very well on the camaro due to the fact that they are a reativle soft compond.

Soft compound = better traction and handling but shorter tread life
Harder compound = less traction less performance but greater tread life.

Obviously there are more factors in consideration, however your tires are very important to you and your car. I'd make your decisions based on how you drive your car. 34K doesn't seem at all an unreasonable mileage from a set of P-zero's

just a hair over 45k (all highway miles) on my factory P-zeros I feel I am good for another 4-6k before I am on the wear bars

Yep, I got 54K out of my Pirelli fronts and 47K out of the rears. I also do a lot of highway driving.
