Same as any repair, the truth.

Or you could not disclose it and sell it "as is" like the dealer did. A camaro ss sale will DEFINITELY happen on the island, regardless of rust.

OP, deal with the rust. You said it was only in one spot. Hell, you could get a real cheap repair if you have the right friends on base.

No one else is looking under there lol

Older cars get rust all the time and people dont just trash the car. They deal with it. (Look at the 240 community for example)

I would rather take the bite in repairs than selling the car and possibly buying another problem.

Plus, everyone wants a v8 in hawaii.

As for the dealerships, my experience with the ones in honolulu is that they do not want to deal with problem cars and will do everything they can to blow you off. GL trying to talk to them.

Even at 2 years old, my front bumper is starting to get rust and I'm not going to replace the entire car whenever it comes time to repair it. My underside has been affected by surface rust (my fault ) too and I've still dealt with it, although that was MUCH easier than your situation.

I would never buy a car with a repaired frame.

I know things are expensive in Hawaii, but I would replace that supframe in instead of repairing. That is very abnormal. You may end up just chasing holes.

Danno's first Camaro was a silver RS V6.

Well, if I get it welded and fixed and it fixes the issue then it's done. If it doesn't, I can still replace the subframe.

When it comes down to it, it's your ride and what you feel comfortable with. For me, I wouldn't want the entire car. Goodluck to you with whatever you do.

Everyone can afford to spend someone else's money. Everyone would not wish to buy a repaired car, any repair. Our friend came here for support for the uncomfortable predicament he's in. It's in the interest of this forum to provide that support.

Respectfully inform the Kia dealer that you feel unsafe driving a vehicle that has rust holes in its frame and ask for your money back. When I worked near Schofield Barracks my employer always bent over backwards to help active duty personnel as a means of "supporting the troops." I'm confident the Kia dealer does want negative publicity in the form of taking advantage of a Marine.

This is an easy fix, a little time consuming maybe but nothing too hard about it at all. Provided he can get the materials anyway. These products on the market today are amazing these young folk don't know how good they have it.
I disagree. Putty is no fix for Frame Rust.

If the OP gets it fixed, it should be Welded and a with a Good Person doing it, you won't know it was done!
