So I got all my parts and started building this. Wired everything up the way it shows. In bench testing this when I hook up power & ground both relays click and power goes stright to the solenoid even before I connect anything to the wire for the c/c button. Any help on what I may have missed on this?

Where are you getting the power and ground from? Same was the photos on the install? When you turn on the power switch are both relay's clicking? What is happening when the switch is turned off? Are you seeing any power on the solenoid (Green) wire when the switch is off? When you activate the box, you should here one of the relay's click, but no power to the solenoid wire until you hit the cruise cancel. Can you give me your scenario step by step and let me know when you are seeing voltage at the solenoid. I can help you there.

Thanks,

Ken

Power it a tap into the fuse box through a switch. It is pulling good voltage. Ground is the dash mounting bolt. Both relays were clicking when I turned on the switch and power was going to the solenoid. I figured out I had a diode backwards so it was better after that. Only 1 solenoid clicking after that. No power to the solenoid wire. I am getting 12v to the cruise control input though. I was thinking I had a bad transistor so I was going to swap the out and see if that helped.

OK... went out & took a few voltage measurements. From that I can tell everything is hooked up correct. Here is what I got...

I am not brand new to the world of circuits and what not, just not overly versed in the subject. This is also the first time I have built one using a transistor. I have done my reading online as to what exactly a transistor does, but don't know how to test them or anything yet (what should I be looking for on each pin of the transistor?). This stuff fascinates me and I am trying to learn as I go, but this one has me stumped. I am really close to just putting in a push button somewhere indiscreet since I don't really want to spend $67 on a switch.

cruise cancel button feature

Where you pressing the cruise cancel button while taking these measurements?
If not, you should not have voltage on pin 87 of the right relay. Its a bad relay
If yes, then voltage then voltage should be the same on pin 30 and 87 of the left relay

These were without the cancel button pushed. I will replace that relay tonight and see if it changes. Thanks for the help.

OK... I started from scratch and rewired the whole thing being very careful to make sure everything was on the right posts & going to right direction. I power it on and the left relay clicks. When off the cancel switch both 30 & 87 read .65V. When the cancel switch is pressed both move to 2.5V. Throughout all of this the right relay does nothing. I have 12.5V to 85, 86, 30, & 87a. Nothing to 87. Any ideas?

Also, pin 86 is 12.5V & pin 85 is 0V on the left relay.

cruise cancel button feature

So when you press the cruise button, at the base of the transistor you get 2.5V but on the collector side you dont have 0V? If thats the case, then either your transistor is not properly wired or its defective.
When the transistor receives a low current on the base side, he will let current pass between the collector and emitter sides, in this case letting gnd go to pin 85 of the relay then it should click and you will get 12v to pin 87.

cruise cancel button feature

You're sure your transistor is properly connected?
When the flat face of the transistor faces down on a table, pins from left to right are C-B-E

Other than this, all your readings are normal except pin 85 of the right relay that should show gnd when the cruise button is pressed. Theres something about the transistor not doing is job

It is according to the diagram on the package which is the opposite of what you are saying. It says it would be C-B-E while looking at the flat face. Would a bad transistor cause this? Everything with the left relay appears to be working normal.
