I can tell you a little........damn little..........the L99 comes with 400hp automatic and the LS3 has 426 hp and a manual or "stick".

The L99 has a fuel management system that helps or is supposed to with fuel management but what do I know............I'm getting a V6

LS3 - 426HP - Manual Transmission
L99 - 400HP - Automatic Transmission with active fuel management (AFM turns 4 cylinders "off")

You can modify the hell out of these engines, from exhaust to a supercharger. Nobody knows the peak HP output of this engine (before modifying internals), but the block can handle tons of psi.

I know ADM PERFORMANCE (aka Andy) already took his motor out and put a 427 with a few mods and it is kicking over 600 horses in his bad asze Camaro.

You can check out his posts and see what he has done. It is pretty sweet. I saw and HEAR it last Saturday.

Ck out his thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36712

The L99 comes with 3.27 gears and the LS3 has 3.45.

L99 = 10:4 compression
LS3 = 10:7 compression

They use the exact same engine block and the vast majority of other pieces, so what you can do to one you can do to the other. The main difference between the two engines is that the L99 has variable valve timing and active fuel management.

the heads are different because of the afm system, and a small cam because of the afm, and as others have said it also has vvt, but if you changed the cam and heads it would be an LS3, you would also need to the ecm reprogramed to turn of the afm.
