MRT v1.0 + JBA Shorties?

Anyone have this combination? If so, what are your impressions? I'm thinking about adding the JBAs to my set up.

Yeah I'd also like to know the results. I have MRT but I've held off of the headers due to warrenty voiding issues.. Not sure what to do!

Headers won't void your entire warranty. If the headers cause an issue then the issue is not covered under warranty. If a fuel injector is bad this was not caused by the header and therefore is still covered by warranty. If you install your headers and develope an exhaust leak you might not want to take it to the dealer to fix the leak. You will be responsible for the bill.

Scrmng is big into to all this. He has many posts about it. He had the Scrmn MRT V1s originally and now has the V2s. He also has the JBA shorty headers. His car is tuned but he has also had the setup dyno tested without a tune.

I think Nallen00 was looking to produce a true high flow cat system that mated up to the jba's to see better #'s through the shorties yet not as expensive as long tubes....talk to mrray13, I think he was going to send them his shorties since he moved up to long tubes.

I realize this, I guess I'm just being really cautious. Although, I guess there isn't much that can go wrong with headers is there? Besides like an exhaust leak or something?

And would you need a tune to see any gains? I figure to see max gains it would need to be tuned, however I assume that there might be some gains just by freeing up the exhaust/headers.

On the JBA shorties Mrray13 found a leak at the flange under the "V"-clamp. Mine had this also and threw a CEL. Had to seal the flanges with high temp RTV and the code went away. If you go with JBA's you may want to do this up front to eliminate the possibility of the leaks.

I like the difference in the sound and found the install not very difficult. I also welded my own pipes. You might want to look into someone who can weld for you if you cannot do it yourself.

You won't need tune to realize any gains with the headers, especially the shorty ones. As the o2 sensors pretty much stay in the exact same location, they won't throw a code. As Mankind stated, when switching to longtubes, we found that the area between the stackers, clamped together with the v-clamp, was leaking. The codes the shorty headers threw, p2097 and p2099, are overrich codes caused by a possible lean issue caused by a possible exhaust leak. Mankind addressed his stacker connection with RTV and no codes since. So the shorty headers seem to be fairly trouble free, if the stacker flange connection is tight.

As to gains, I saw ~5rwhp and ~8lb-tq at the ground with the JBAs. This was a solid gain and measured 2 weeks after install.

Well, I pulled the trigger. Just ordered them from Autoanything.com at a really good price. They're offering $25 off until Monday on their already low prices on the JBAs.

I'm going to have my Chevy dealer install the headers. They quoted me around $300.00 for 3.5 hours of labor. Oh well.

I'll let you guys know my impressions late next week.
