1ZL1 or 2ZL1?
Since there has not been a plethora of news regarding the ZL1 recently, my mind has been free to drift to various Camaro thoughts.
One thing that I have noticed is that many people refer to their 5th Gen Camaros as 1LTs or 2LTs, or 1SSs or 2SSs, instead of just referring to them as simply LTs or SSs, in addition to notating the RS designation, where appropriate. With the 1st Gen Camaros, one generally referred to them as simply RSs, SSs or Z28s, or RS/SSs or RS/Z28s, if appropriate, and sometimes the engine designation was used, such as L35, L34, or L78, especially with regard to the 396s, where multiple configurations of the 396 engine were available, but rarely did one refer to a 1st Gen Camaro with regard to its interior trim designation, such a Z23/SS or a Z87/Z28. So my question is why do people tend to use the 1 and 2 trim level designation when referring to 5th Gen Camaros with regard to the LTs and SSs? And since that seems to be the pattern with the 5th Gens, will people use the similar 1 and 2 designation with the ZL1, if 1 and 2 interior trim levels are available on the ZL1?

The difference lies in the equipment. It used to be a Camaro SS with leather. Now, it's a 2SS Camaro. Adding the "2" makes the whole name simpler by explaining the equipment.
I expect the ZL1 to have 2 or 3 trim levels.

I understand that the 1 versus 2 prefix difference is in the interior equipment/trim.
My question really is why with the 5th Gen Camaros does there appear to be a change in nomenclature, which now specifies the interior trim level when referring to the model, when that similar convention doesn't appear to be the case with the earlier models? In other words, with the 5th Gen Camaros, individuals do seem to use the interior equipment designation when referring to their vehicle model, whereas that wasn't, and isn't, the standard practice with regard to the earlier model Camaros? People didn't, and don't, refer to their 1st Gen Camaros as Z23/SSs or Z87/Z28s.

so true Pollock I went in to look at the new Passat yesterday (currently have a jet tdi as my wifes daily driver as they didn't have the Passat tdi when i bought the jetta) and the sales person was so set on selling me the car all they wanted to do was get me in to talk #'s then when we went in the sales manager says you cant buy the car until september 30th (thats when vw releases the cars to retail they are for display only now) and worse they asked me how to spell passat when filling out the info sheet.

I expect the dealerships to add in a lot of stuff to the sticker price to boost their mark up during the first year. I going to wait till the hype dies down and buy then maybe in 2013 or later. Whatever is wrong with it in 2012 will be fixed in 2013 and more options will also come into play to keep the ZL1 saleable.

GM could have made this much simple AKA "LT=base V6 RS=Loaded V6 SS=base V8 and Z28=loaded V8" but someone somewhere told them to appeal to a young demographic so now we got this cluster f To deal with sorry oldschool camaro owners |

I'd say it's because that is the way Chevy lables them.
That being said to me it's an SS or LT. |

I think it will be just labeled as ZL1, with the option of having the suede inserts in the seats. In other words, you just click on camaro zl1 on the chevy website (when it arrives on there) and a whole checklist shows up of the options you want. Thats what I think will occur.
