Problems with SS manual trannies?

Someone told me recently there was an "issue" with the manual trannies on the SS's. Did a search and couldn't come up with much, anyone know what this might be in reference to? Assuming GM stepped up and fixed it but want to ensure a friend's experience isn't a bad one.

Probably the second gear grind or the fact that it clunks around a little bit. The latter is not an actual issue though.

I have a 2SS manual, problem free

Some of the early 2010 builds (pre 24,000 vin #'s) had some output shaft problems. The TR6060s in general have pretty weak synchros.

No issues with mine!
I have owned many mustangs in the past and all had less that desirable traits with notchiness and grinding, so I was a liitle hesitant to order my Camaro until I watched this reassuring video:

My 2011 SS grinds every time I shift into second about 3500 RPMs, sucks because its sounds like I cant drive a stick if I have to take off fast. Yall are lucky not to have issues. Dealer is not helping at all with issue. I will have to take this into my hands and change the fluid myself.

The problem with that video is that the guy mentioned that they use carbon syncros which isn't entirely true. From my understanding, only the 2012 had carbon syncros from factory and maybe even some very late production 2011. I'm sure they help relieve some of the grinding problems but a lot of people still have the grinding problems.

Search- 2nd gear grind. Mine grinds only when the transmission is cold.

The grind issue does not seem to have a pattern as to what cars are affected, although it exists in the Challenger and Mustangs also, since they run the same manual tranny. Its probably not as big of a problem as the internet makes it out to be. But to those that have it? It sucks. Mine will be a little tempermental when cold, but I don't drive it in cold weather that much. My biggest concern was to try and get a smoother and faster shift into 2nd and 3rd at the drag strip. I have tried the Red Line D4 ATF fluid in the trans. with good results so far.

I wasn't aware that the Mustangs ran the same transmission. I thought it was the T56? I think the GT500 has the Tremec though right? The real question that I have are if the Viper guys are having this problem as I heard they use the same TR6060.

Correct the Mustang GT500 has a tr6060. I pulled some info from wiki, so who knows how accurate it really is....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremec_...n#Applications

Mine works great under normal conditions, I put in royal purple tonite and it does shift better but a 1-2 at red line will still grind if I pull fast like old school, if I do normal semi-fast shift its always good. Guess its just the way it is.......
