Everybody active in the tire forum said buy scorpion snow and ice and
go 245's all around. I did,and I really think they suck. There was a mere
dusting on the ground yesterday as I came home from work at 2:20pm.
Truly an awful tire and I would never recommend them to anyone.
What a waste, $1200 right down the crapper. Looks like I'm headed
to home depot for 300lbs worth of sand bags.

For the price of a set of winter tires you can buy a cheap winter car. Yesterday was pretty slick though. I came to a slow stop at a red light and my truck didn't want to stop! My ABS was going nuts as it slowly crawled to an unnerving stop just before the intersection. I wouldn't even think of trying to drive the Camaro with the SS or RS tires in this weather.

Did you see where they lived who recommended them?

Just a stupid observation they did sell you the right tire correct? When did you get these? If not to long ago bring them back and complain tell them the car is going nowhere. as it is..and see what they do.

400 lbs of sand in the back? wow thats a lot man, be careful making the car that unbalanced can lead to some serious fish tailing.....I don't want to hear about your car getting wrecked going around a curve. I'm telling you beater is the way to go.

beater or get beat on imo...i pulled the trigger...

keep camaro on road in winter:

winter tires and wheels: $1200-1700
sand: $30
emergency kit cuz youll probably get stuck somewhere: $20
carwashes to wash the damaging salt off the finish: $30-40 depending on how anal you are
knowing your car delt with winter driving: lifetime of pain and suffering

winter beater: $500-1000 (i spent 600 bucks on my 89 Ranger 4x4)
knowing your camaro is safe in a warm location away from sand, salt and other idiot winter drivers: priceless

you do the math

I'm different. I drive my car daily because I cannot stand to drive "insignificant" vehicles. Like my previous Camaros/Firebirds, they see it all. I do not plan on keeping this car forever. Besides, if I still want a gen 5 Camaro in 10 years, there will always be someone, who, unfortunately, needs to sell their garage queen.

If I had the cash, I would daily drive my SS, and garage queen a z28 when that is available. But I'm not rich.

After almost 7 years of daily driving my 2000 Z28, there was no visible rust (except for stuff like endlinks) on the undercarriage. It was clean. Very big different from driving 2nd gen f-bodies. Those would rust out instantly...

I was in a bind last year and needed to. Well, it wouldn't get out of my driveway and there was barely an inch on the ground.

The summer tires are for THE SUMMER...they just don't work in the snow.

I'm anal, you can't tell me a car doesnt't look weathered after a winters worth of driving.

I had a 08 tbss before my camaro, I loved that truck but I drove it year round. Even with 3M clear bra everywhere and regualar washes the wheels looked like crap and started to pitt after 1 winter, the rockers got all chipped up as did the rear bumper behind the tires.

I even got a chip on my windshield. Not to mention the filth in the under carriage and the engine compartment I was constantly chasing after.

Not worth it. Beater can get dirty, I don't care. My camaro is snug under a cover in a heated garage under my bedroom where I know it is safe.
