I'm sure this will surprise many here.. but.. I actually like the whole car dip.. There's a fad (or maybe an upcoming big time craze) with matte finish cars..
The detail shop I use, Simon's Shine Shop, has a product line called Dr. Beasley's which has a specific suite of materials for Matte Finish cars (amongst all the other finishers, polishes, waxes, cleaners, etc for the regular paint types) and it works very well.. I've been in the shop once or twice while they had some high end matte cars. I don't know if any of their stuff applies to Plastidip cars, but it's worth a look. Anyways, I do actually like it all matte... |

This doesn't look too bad, and I don't even like the matte look on most cars. Nice choice!

To many people on this site worry about things that are not there's. If you would read the post he says why he did it. Plasti dip does nothing to the car and it comes off very easy. Maybe people should educate themselves before making comments and making themselves look stupid.

I tried plasti-dipping the grill on my Rubicon. I did not like the results but yours looks like it was done pretty well. I ended up having a paint shop paint the grill charcoal metallic with a satin finish. Plasti does come off easy so when you're done with the look, you'll be able to take it off in a relatively short time. It should do a good job of protecting the paint while you're racing it.

This man and his ZL1 are the embodiment of the true American spirit! When a man finds an innovative way to protect his car that looks pretty cool and can be easily removed and gets flamed for it. Well folks that's not an America I want to live in!!

Looks WICKED!!! Did you spray it yourself? How many tins of PD did it take to get the whole car done?

I like it bt I would be afraid of messing the paint up when I went to take it off. How do you remove it without screwing your paint up? I mean you have to make a slit somewhere right?

I'm one of the few that don't like it. It doesn't look tacky but it looks like a car that was just primer and the owner said "ok", making it look cheap. Flat black looks better than this.
Plasti-dip for a rock crawler or winter beater, sure. But not a 60k car with an expensive paint job already. I like having a car shine. If this is being used in situations where it needs to be protected, then its ok...and clever. But you could spray the vital areas, not the whole car. But hey, Its a culture thing. Same concept with big rims, "carbon fiber everything", or flat black. If he likes it, go ahead. Its their car. |

I sprayed the car in my garage and it took a galon and a half to spray the whole vehicle
