How hard is it to paint a car or truck?
I'm interesting in painting my truck first, whole thing, then if that goes good touching up a few spots on my car. But how hard is it really to do? Thanks

Painting, not hard. Proper prep work, pretty hard and time consuming. I use to paint cars and I would easily spend a whole weekend prepping a car for the first coat of primer and it takes even more time to properly prep the car after the primer has been shot to take the first coat of paint. There is a reason why a good paint job cost $8-$10k.
If this is something you are seriously interested in trying, I recommend to take a couple auto body classes at a local community college first. Doing this could save you from making a very expansive "oops" later. As for touching up your car, no way in hell I would do that. You will be much better off taking it to someone that does it for a living. |

I just painted my truck myself, it was pretty easy.
Bought a paint gun from yahoo and used my buddy's little shop and compressor. $60 for the gun plus $300 for paint and material. |

I guess it all depends on your innate skills. Personally, I have a hard time painting anything with out getting runs in it--doesn't matter whether I use a spray can or paint brush. As said above--painting is easy; getting it right is more difficult!

Any can of paint and a brush will do. Wheels glass, you name it. Half hour job tops.
Will look like shit, but not hard
