Will that keep the car from starting in drive/reverse?

Well my RPM 4l80 is here. It's a late core 97 and up. It has the tube fitting in the rear.
Just do people aren't confused the there are some fittings that might have worked for early core, but won't work on the late. Also needs more clearance too. And the signals for PCS controller are diffrent.

I will update as I go along, if you want. Or I'll start my own. Just wanting everyone to know that there are diffrances.

Throw the info in here and I'll see it added to the main post for the later model cores.

Ok, I'm missing the part about the neutral safety swich and controller hook up? They told me that there is something inside the old transmission that sends info through a data line to a data network to the speedometer? I'm guessing there is something about that on here that I'm just misssing?

What controller are you using? What company built your trans? Early or late core? You do have to tap into your factory trans harnes if your using pcs 2000 controller, for your speed.

I have the parts listed on this thread, the rest is from stock 6-speed auto. (I obviously didn't purchase the auto shifter, and I did purchase the manual cross member transmission mount)

Jakes built it, they even refered me to this specific thread. I don't know about the core, they just built and sent it, I think it is stage 2, the one that's good for 750 horsepower.

P.S. the guys working on mine found a way to lengthen the wires and put a hand-made harness on it so that they didn't need to cut into the frame as he did here.

I think jakes uses early cores....they seem to fit better. You also probably have the optishift controller. I have a pcs 2000. I don't know what it takes to hook up your controller, but if you call jakes, or DiteCoke sometimes visits this thread.

apparently they forgot that they needed to tell the factory computer that there is now a "manual" transmission so it needs to stop looking for the module in the 6-speed auto. After that, the 4-speed auto should work fine once the computer uses alternate means to find it's speed for the speedometer.

I think he said the traction control system uses the speed of the front tires and compairs it to the rear tires to work, which just means now it will be that system that determines, and displays the speed.
