Trade in value of 2010 camaro SS RS?

I have a 2010 camaro SS RS, and I was trying to trade it in at the dealership, but they offered me nothing for it. $21k to be precise.

KBB trade in value is $25,571 (good) to $26,971 (excellent).

The car is mint, 30k miles, fully loaded minus sunroof.

What are other people getting for trade-ins?

You usually get hosed trading it in. Try selling it yourself. A little more hassle but lots more money.

If time isn't a problem, then sell it privately. Trade in isn't gonna be pretty at all.

You should be able to get 27K for that privately (assuming its a 2SS). The only thing us the relatively high mileage and im not sure how that will play out. Dont trade it in!

An automobile salesman I know told me the dealers will try to ding you out of a couple of thousand or more dollars below the blue book just in case there are any hidden problems with the vehicle being traded. This is why unless your vehicle has problems which would cost too much to fix, don't trade it in.

Dealers would only give me $14,500 for my 07 Ram 1500 with 8K miles; I put it out on the street and sold it for $18,000. It took 4 months, but I got $3,500 more by being patient. KBB listed it for $22,000

I'll have to assume that you have a early 10...considering your join date here. If that is the case, 30K isn't high milage........its ususal. Whats usual as well is that as more folks up the ante getting into newer and higher trimmed models............supply and demand come into play..........trade in prices come down with all the selections dealers have..........as others have mentioned, though a highly unlikely option for most upside down and in a hurry, a private sale may put more cabbage in your wallet for dealing.

What you get for trade-in depends how much you are paying for the new car.
If you pay MSRP for the new car, expect a generous trade in offer.
If you are paying invoice for the new car, expect a low ball trade in offer.
Regardless, never trade in a car. The salespeople will use it against you to obfuscate the negotiations.

Has anyone ever private partied a car over 15k or so?

Who has 30k cash laying around usually? Most people buying a used 2 year old car are doing it because they can't afford a new one, in which case they are borrowing, in which case you can't buy private party?

I just recently sold a 2008 Lexus for 28,500, the buyer had no problem coming up with the cash. The price was about 3500 under what he could of bought from the dealer. If someone is in the market they will have the money.Oh and by the way it was the only call I got on the car in 4 weeks.People can get pre approved for a car loan so it doesn't matter who they buy from

i've sold 2 cars this year in fla. and no one has cash and unemployment is 13% in my area. i lost money on both cars. depends on the economy where you live. if people have jobs and can get financing then private sales are always better, but if you have to get rid of the car to buy a new one, work the best deal you can for the new car from the dealer and take the hit on your trade. i had to practicallygive away my last car because i got my new car at $7,000 under sticker with 2500 miles on it. i did the math and i still came out a little ahead on the deal. every deal is different. you also have to figure in, new warranty, free service contract if you can get the dealer to throw it in as part of the deal, etc. there is more to a deal than dollars for dollars. try selling your car at a lttle more than what dealer will give you, 2 or 3 thousand and then get the best deal you can with cash in hand.
