Damn. Put it all back together and the fuel pump isn't running. There's good power and ground at the fuel pump connector, so it must have broken from all the struggle of taking it out.

It's alive!!!!!! Fuel pump wasn't bad, I just failed to reconnect its ground strap...it looked like it had a good ground, but looking through the Haynes manual at the wiring diagrams (which, BTW, were carbon copies of the Chilton's diagrams; they must have both bought them from the same place) made me go out and re-test everything.

sweet. when we were wiring up the fuel pump on the 86 (which on 3rd and 4th gen camaros had the fuel pump pos, ground, and sending unit wiring running thru the cabin and exiting behind the rear seat where there was a harness connector next to the tank), well Josh went to wire everthing up to our home-made switch box.... and ended up wiring the pump to itself.

Thank you all for the help. It's running great now.
Now it's Miller time.

You know what's kinda ironic? I did all that crap, all kinds of wrenching and working with gasoline and lifting the bed without a helper, all without getting a scratch on me. While getting ready to lay under the truck to put the last bolt back in the bed, I saw a small rock sticking out of the ground. I had obviously laid on it every time I got under the truck to mess with the fuel filter or the bed bolt, probably 25-50 times in this ordeal. I hadn't noticed it and it hadn't bothered me.
So, what do I do, as I'm looking at this rock? I try to push it out of the ground using my fingers and a tool, so that it won't bother me when laying on it (ignoring the fact that it hadn't bothered me before). One finger slip later, it took a small chunk out of the back of my left middle finger. It's annoying me now, I like cracking my knuckles but can't do that one. Cliff's notes: Injuries in many hours of semi-dangerous work on the truck: 0 Injuries in 30 seconds of safe unnecessary work on a rock that wasn't bothering me: 1 That's wack, yo.

I've been there too. I have a bad habit of not wearing gloves when working on cars. I currently have a 3" long scar on my right ring finger from right behind the fingernail all the way up. I was swapping out the ps pump on the Durango and some fluid had lightly coated everything. while pulling the last bolt, I slipped and ran my hand right down the exhaust bolts (which were completely rusted). I pulled my hand back to see a nice rolled up flap of skin protruding off the header bolt. and like most times, the pain didnt truely set in till I looked at my finger....
