Camaro Commercial?

I've now seen a commercial several times for the new 370z. GM obviously hasn't killed the marketing budget yet so where's the Camaro commercials? Let's get the hype machine in full gear GM!!!

I'm a little worried about the lack of marketing...

They can't show any interior shots if they're still unsure about ABL. Anyways, I think we'll be getting some SS reviews before we get a commercial.

You barely have to even show the car at all to create a good commercial. Commercials aren't about providing information but drawing interest, especially at this point in the product cycle. If you've seen the new Z commercials you'll notice they hardly show the interior.

Take it for what it's worth, but a little bird told me there would be something at the Super Bowl. I have a friend who does rotoscoping, computer graphics, etc for commercials, he couldn't tell me a lot except that the old commercial is combined into a new, a TON of graphics (took 7 months to work on) and it cost A LOT of money (which was apparently before they pleaded for help to the gov't.)

If we don't see it I told him he would get publicly flogged by the members of this group, and GM better tell us where the commercial is since we (the taxpayers) partially own the company now, lol.

I'm getting very worried about this also. It really smells like something is up.......

I ordered a 2SS/RS Camaro on October 13th, and since I've been watching this site for over a year I can't wait to get it.

I know that GM does not have a lot of money to advertise on TV. But I went to the Los Angeles and San Diego auto show. The Camaro's at the show looked awesome in person, and they had a large crowd of people around them. But it really didn't seem like Chevy was trying to sell them. In San Diego, they only had two cars, and they didn't have any signs out with the models or the pricing. The one lonely person working the Chevy booth didn't give much information to the people around the area, just the overall price range of 22-38K. I talked with more people than they did. They didn't have brochures, or even tell people that they were available to order. The only thing they were handing out was a 1 page picture of the Camaro with an interest card that people could mail in.

In contrast, the Ford booth at the San Diego auto show had 6 2010 Mustangs, with several that you could sit in, and one outside that you could drive. The booth had a whole "mustang heritage" set of videos and items, and Ford was handing out brochures, bags, and other items. They were really selling into the hype, and a ton of people were crowding the area. They must have had 20 Ford employees around to answer questions.

I can't wait to get my car, but the fact they weren't even trying to take additional orders MAKES ME THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG. Also, we haven't seen any test drive reviews of the V8 yet in any of the auto mags yet. With six weeks to go, I AM GETTING WORRIED.....

What do you guys think?

I'd just like to let everyone know that GM just got their $4 billion in loans yesterday.

Now we can actually get things done.

Excellent! And to the OP yeah I was watching the sugar bowl (not sure if that is what you were watching) and saw at least 3 370z commercials, and wow that car looks nice on the tube! Considering the Camaro is hitting the streets relatively soon, I hope to see some cool commercials asap!

I completely agree. I was very underwhelmed when I saw that Camaro in PHX. They had one V6 Camaro with no signs, no price tags, no helpers, no one could sit in it etc. Then you went over to the 2010 Mustang side and they had a badass lookin' mustang up on a swivel with lights on, another with the top down so people could see in. They had a stage person talking about it with 3-5 people walking around answering questions handing our brochures.

I almost bought into the hype myself because I felt like I was punched in the stomach from GM. Hey, thanks for putting $500 down on your order- in return you get to look at the car from a distance without anyone there to offer help (not mad, just discouraged)

They do say in the article there will be ads BEFORE and AFTER the superbowl...........plenty of chances in there. I don't really like NFL, on account of how I watch Canadian football, and your extra down makes it seem boring to me, but I have heard that there will be a Transformers 2 trailer and now the possibility of a camaro ad........I will be watching.
